KJW or TM Sig P226 ?

    Hi all,

Looking to pick up a Sig P226 and am stuck between the KJW http://www.eirsoft.ie/store/product_info.php?cPath=33&products_id=76

    and the TM.

    http://corkairsoftshop.com/shopdata/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=40

The KJW is full metal and cheaper than the ABS TM which would seem like the better deal pricewise considering i only collect and don't skirmish. Does the TM have stamps or trademarks that the KJW doesn't ?

I always thought that Tokyo Marui were supposed to be the highend of airsoft so why is their P226 ABS as opposed to metal ? As far as I know the real firearm is full metal. Authenticity is important to me.

    Any thoughts or advice appreciated,

    Heckler

The KJW sig is great. Especially for the price. If full metal is important to you then you should go for that one.

TM make their pistols out of ABS due to Japanese laws. They make excellent AEGs, but you can get better GBBs.

    Thanks o1s1n,

Didn't know that about japanese law. I can get the full metal KJW P226 from eirsoft.com for E110.00 plus p&p and wait a few days or I can get the TM P226 from corkairsoftshop.com for E139 and pick it up locally. Being from Cork I'd like to support the local boys but all things considered I might go for the KJW. If they were both the same I'd get the TM but I have a thing for full metal.

    Decisions. decisions.

He's right. The KJW sig is great, Full metal looks and feels better, and has a nice CLACK off it when fired.

The TM is a good skirmisher, light weight, accurate, long lasting and a little better at gas consumption.

If its just for the collection and the odd shoot, then the KJW all the way. ;)

And that's good coming from me.

Got the KJW P229 today, (believe to be compact version of the 226?), good weight and nice feel, but a slight problem with the safety. It's located on the disassemble lever, unlike the real steel. That would be my only bit of complaint.

    Thanks for the advice.

Being a collector as opposed to a skirmisher I reckon I'll go with the KJW. Hate to lose the guys at corkairsoft.com a sale but all things considered the full metal from eirsoft.com is a better deal.

    Cheers lads,

if you where a skirmisher i'd go with the tm one as i have had the kjw one and its just too heavy to be useful as a side arm in a leg holster. it sounds great butthat wouldnt be enough for me. the tm one will have all the trae where as the kjw doesnt and has the kjw logo accross the grips. the gas consumption on the sig i had wasn't all that good to be honest with one mag being the max i got out of it. although that being said it was the coldseason when i had it so cool down would have been an issue for any gun. i havn't seen the tm one in person before so dont know much (anything) about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,353 ✭✭✭Heckler

Thanks Spitfire666 but like I said I'm not a skirmisher so gas consumption and weight ain't a problem. As a collector the heavier the better. You did raise a point thought, Which one, TM or KJW has the more authentic markings ? Does anyone know ?

i think that the tm one has. as far as i can remember the one i had didnt have the markings. i cant remember for sure though. actualy, now that i have just looked atareal sig 226, i can saytheone i had didnt havethe markings along the slide.

What i can say is that for the most part, TM guns only have their name printed in a small discreetwayon a partof the gun where as the KJW one had it accross both sides of the grips. in a similir fasion to the Sig Sauer has the 226 marking.

Heckler, if you are just collecting, have a look at this...

or wanna go "blink", try the stainless steel look...

    The kjw I'd say.

No point in paying more for plastic, and TM's reputation is because of their aegs, not gbb's.

The kjw is more than good enough, I have a kjw m9, and its never given trouble.

One thing though, if there are bbs in the mag, dont let the follower snap up against them, it can damage the feed lips at the top of the mag.
The lips are replaceable though even if that happens.

The KJW all the way m8! Its my favourite GBB pistol I own due
to the high quality of it. I've compared the KJW P226 to an actual real
P229 and got to say very little in the difference.

The real P229 had of course an extra strong spring but what was weird
was that it only had a cheap Plastic Magazine. They both felt and looked
    the same.

    Thanks all,

I reckon the KJW is the way to go. The stainless steel finish is a bit bling for me Sam Fisher so i reckon i'll go with the regular look. Thanks for the advice and recommendations.

I have the KWJ also and would go with it over the ABS version also.

I'd agree with everything said regarding magazines, you do need to be careful.

A nice weighty and well babalnced peice that's also a pleasure to fire and with (naturally) a hell of a lot less recoil than the "real" version.

Looks, good, feels good, works good. What more is there to say?

i got the real steel one myself and it is the way to go its a must have.iv used the tm one before and found the real steel to be better for mag lif i got two mags worth of pellets out of the one fill of gas.nice wait to it i have to say but the best part about it is the blow back wat asound and a fairly strong recoil compared to a glock or an m9

pleaes don't shoopt me with the real steel

I got the KJW sig not so long ago and I'm very happy with it. The build quality is excellent, recoil spring is good and strong. There are no markings, no safety either.

The only GGB I have to compare it to is my Bell M9 which is a piece of ****. It rattles when you shake it, the recoil spring isn't strong enough to return the slide fully, the mags piss gas. The KJW gun is in a different league altogether.

I'm happy with my KJW 226, as little as I use it - I had a small leakage problem which the retailer offered to fix, but I decided to tackle myself as a learning/impatience exercise... I started a thread on this in the troubleshooting forum.

The safety on the KJW is the take down lever. Just push it from the right hand side of the pistol. Push bak in from the left to release.

I have a kjw p226 and its a sweet ggb. Its cheaper and more solid than the tm. I got two mags worth of BB's out of one fill of propane in march (cold) at Gtac. The only problem i have with it is the hopup is a pain to adjust cos you have to take down the pistol to get at it, bar from that its a sweet ggb. If you can live with no trademarks, the kjw is the one to get. Plus you will save a packet on gas, when you run it on propane.

You know the little dial that is turned on the left side of the frame to dissassemble it? Push the circular part at the right side, it clicks, locking the trigger mech.

dont seem to be workin any chance of some pix or a vid of ya doin it.
do you need to push hard

Hmmm, I had the same problem with my KJ P226, but none whatsoever with my P229. Try silicone lube.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,125 ✭✭✭amaughan

are you sure its the 226 that it works with cause i just took it apart to see how it would work and it dont really look as if it can do that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,656 ✭✭✭deepimpact

Not 100%, but they are basically the same pistol, except the frame is slightly smaller. I wasn't able to get the P226's safety to work properly, but I never tried lubing it up. Don't force it though, just in case

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,125 ✭✭✭amaughan

i would say the p229 is the updated version of the p226 that includes a safety
must be cause this is well lubed

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,656 ✭✭✭deepimpact

Huh, I was googling the P226, and apparently it does not have a working safety...

    Oops, my bad, sorry :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,287 ✭✭✭kevteljeur

I've got the KJW 226 - it has a safety catch, and the 229 is a shorter variant of the same pistol. I started a thread in the Troubleshooting forum on resolving some issues I've encountered with it. Great GBB though.

Me is confused about the safety thing...

I prefer the P229 anyway, to get back on topic, better blowback and feels better in the hand. Cheap too.

    this is on topic.

where is the safety on your one kev

P229 is the covert version of the 226. As far as the safety is concerned, point the piece away from you as in the aim. Push the takedown lever from the right hand side of the piece, it should slide slightly to the left. if you attempt to squeeze the trigger you'll find it won't! that the safety issue sorted:D

Actually Amayghan I'll be in SAC in a couple of weeks, I'm planning on bringing my 226, I'll show ya if your there, just look for the old bast*rdo all in DPM carrying a G36c :)

sure we'll go through it if we get the chance, nice piece the 226, altough dropped mine out of a undone dropleg a while back. thought I screwd it completely, major surgery took place(me sitting there head in hands trying to figure out the trigger group) it was touch and go for a while, but shes back in the game again.

I seen that safety in the little booky that came with the KJW but trying it didn't seem to work, although I didn't spend to much time at it.

It's not a great safety though.
