    Probably the wrong forum, so apologies in advance. Anyone know how I can get a snippet of a TV, recorded on Sky+ onto some kind of format that I can put onto something like YouTube? I'm thinking of just filming it on my digital camera and putting it online, but I'm sure the quality will be rather rubbish.

    I cant imagine there being an easy way of doing it, But the Sky + box just records to a hard drive (probably IDE) so if you were to open the box, and connect its Hard Drive to your computer you may be able to see the video files..

    But, knowing Sky, they have probably encrypted the files so only the Sky + box can play them or something to that effect...

    get/borrow a dvd-recorder

    sky+ out -> dvd-recorder in -> tv-in

    play sky+ record on dvd-recorder

    take dvd and rip on pc...

    Cut/chop/convert/post

    Convoluted I know ... but does work ;)

    Haven't tried but a HDMI cable from your computer or laptop to TV and record straight on to computer then Cut/chop/convert/post upload to You Tube

    Probably overkill for you but Bigpockets have a special on the following for about €135 inc. delivery:

    I'm thinking of getting it for archiving stuff from sky+ straight to mpeg4. From looking at other forums, it seems that it can also record stuff straight onto usb memory stick rather than the hard disk. One caveat it that as far I can see it only records via composite, and I couldn't find any recording samples to check out the quality. Only 16 left in stock at the time of posting.

    Edit: Having looked at the manual, it looks like it records in mpeg2 format.
