Band looking for gigs around Ireland?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone could help us out?
Our band are releasing our debut EP this August so to coincide we are currently in the process of putting a small tour together of Ireland and the Uk.

We plan to go to the UK at the end of Augest but from July onto mid Aug we are looking to get out around the country and gig our arses off. Currently we do not have the finances to use an agent or book venues ourselves as we are a new band.

Could anyone help us out, we could do gig swaps if any bands would like to play Dublin we can put you on no problem or if anyone knows any promoters that would have us, were Pop/Rock/Punk.

    Thanks,

Just PM me if you can help.

To be honest, no matter what way you do this, its going to cost you money.
To maximise the potential for you to make your money back, you really should be looking to book the venues yourself and engage with local companies to put posters up for you etc...
Otherwise you can try to work with local promoters in the places you want to play, although they then will take a lot of the money off the door, and you'll be left with EP/merch sales to try and cover your costs.
The best way to find people to work with is to look up venues in places you want to play and see which, if any, promoters run events there. Then its usually straightforward enough to get in touch with them and do a deal for the night you want.
A good way for any band to make the money to afford a well promoted tour, is to play locally and build a nice stash. With those funds you can then set about conquering the rest of the island. You would do this in order to afford recording time, so it should be no different with touring, especially in these modern times where live performance is any band's main revenue stream..
I wouldn't recommend setting off half-assed to tour the country with no promotion or guarantee that you'll get crowds, that would make it a waste of your time, and your money.
However, if you plan it properly, and aren't afraid to invest in it, you can and should make a reasonable profit on it and raise your profile considerably.
    Best of luck!!

Thanks a mil for the reply, some really good advice.

We have made a nice bit off local gigs so far but were going to put it into the recording, manufacturing costs and get a video made.

Some great advice about targeting local promoters, sounds like a really good idea, cheers again mate
