Facebook appears to be blocked. I've been trying to access it all day in the library from my laptop. Highly annoying and if college has decided to block it I think they should have at least informed students.

noticed that this morning. It's a bit strange, as bebo and everything else seems to be working fine.....not that I use them or anything :pac:

It was blocked last night. Particularly annoying for those of us who live in college accommodation - while I can understand why they'd block it from the academia-first college computers (just about - it doesn't make any sense to block facebook but leave bebo etc. It's not like the internet is divided neatly into facebook vs academically-useful websites), it's ridiculous that we can't use it on our own laptops in our own bedrooms.

Of course, they didn't block it particularly well, and it's still very easy to get access...but it's ridiculous all the same.

The network's been under a lot of strain this week, or so I hear. The internet keeps going down. I guess they jettisoned Facebook to keep things under control? It's fair enough; at this time of year, academic work is a priority.

Its not blocked, afaik. Seems like a few links somewhere are down instead - machines in college that don't use the proxy still can't reach it.

If you really need to go on, just switch the "www" to "tcd".

    i.e. http://tcd.facebook.com works fine.

only fooled the server till i tried to log in. :(

Ah well going to take it as a good thing for my exams and become concerned if there isn't a change in a month's time.

It should still work hils, when you log in and it says "internal server error", you just again change the www to tcd again in the address bar. You have to do this for most links within it. Tedious I know, but if you really need your social networking hit...

If you are really feeling withdrawal symptoms; m.facebook.com is a basic format version of it that wouldn't be blocked.
