    Hi guys.

Said I'd start this or Faj would have my arse in a sling ;)

Basically got my first DSLR recently, and have decided to give photography a shot (no pun intended).

All shots taken with a 50mm 1.4 (lovely lens, but unfortunately not mine)

Comments most welcome, as I'm on a very steep learning curve here, when I look at what some of you guys are producing:)

(Please ignore the rest of the album, just simple P & S stuff.)

    I'm nervous now :/

Ah, good to see you posting here at last! :D

You've got some great character shots in there, you're defo making the best out of the 50 1.4

I think that's a great shot, really nice, focus is spot on.

If the focus on the face was a bit sharper, it'd be deadly, but as it is, increase the contrast a bit, and it'll come out a bit more.

    Again, another great character shot.

I think your biggest problem is focus, but that'll be hard with the 50 1.4 starting off - your depth of field (area in focus) will be fairly small at 1.4 - but you'll get plenty of practice!!! Keep shooting, you're on the right track (And it looks like you've plenty of models to practice on) ! :)

great stuff! keep it coming. I have an f/1.8 and find it hard enough to find focus, but the f/1.4 is harder stiff, it's short as a blade.

Some nice shots in the set, the one of the little girl on the right side of one of them is excellent. 50mm f1.4 can be a bit fussy to focus with and it really needs to be stopped down to get sharp.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your feedback.

BF: I love that shot too, but it was almost totally accidental, I'm sorry to say ;)

Maybe sometimes they're the best ones.

    + 1

Sometimes all you need is one 'keeper' to make a whole day's effort worthwhile. :)
