I'm looking to buy a new camera that will give pretty good photographer like pictures with very little talent! :) At the moment I have an old canon digital camera thats more for party use than taking nice keepable shots.
I was looking at the canon digital SLRs...could anyone give me some opinions on that or recommend other cameras?

Have you any on a shortlist yet?
400D entry level or just above that the 450D which I own.
Maybe you want the 40D which is 6fps and weather sealed but heavier and more expensive.
    Read up on sites

Then come back and ask peoples views here too?

I've no experience of the lesser Canon dSLRs other than they didn't feel right in my (big) hands so I'm more at home with a Nikon. Why don't you go into a camera shop and ask to try a few out, get to feel the weight of a camera in your hands. I might suggest the nice folks in Gunn's (are you accessible to Dublin?).

Well as with Hugh_C I have limited experience of the entry models for DSLR's ... though I recently purchased a Canon G9 which spends more time on my person than my Professional DSLR that cost 10 times the price ... very recommended

I had a play with the new Canon rebel XSi ... it is a very nice piece of kit for the money ...

But as Fajitas says ... we need to know more ... what is your budget overall including lenses for one? ... after that ... For what sort of photogrHeaphy are you likely to be using it for the most part? ...

Help us .. and we can help you :p

EDIT: Rebel Xsi = American version of 450d ... oh and I too have very big hands which is why the 450d is far better than its two predecessors for me ... much less fiddly!
