It is worth it.
I had to cancel Sky a few years back as I was moving to the US. It wasn't until I actually told them this that they let me off the phone, after numerous "tempting" offers.
My mother-in-law had the same problem last year. She had both Sky and NTL in the house and wanted to get rid of the former. She was on the phone for 30 minutes with them before they would cancel. They offered her all manner of deals to stay.0 -

ya of course they will, they have a retention department and they'll offer you something better.
I got the 1st month free and had all the packages but had no intention of keeping them so just before the 1st month I called up to drop it to 2 packages then she gave me a big shpeeel about how I'd be saving so much money if I took up whataver package she offered.
I work in a call centre so its always fun being on the other end 0 -
