Audible audiobooks on iTunes

iTunes has a thingy asking me if I want to 'deauthorize' (is that a word?) an Audible account.

Now, I once bought an audiobook from Audible - through Amazon, I think. Gabriel Byrne's Pictures in My Head, pretty good. Recommended enthusiastically by an Irish friend in America who must have been homesick for the accents.

But I haven't bought from Audible again, because the website always wants me to sign up for monthly deals, and I can't afford that, and don't want to.

However, I might buy the odd book from iTunes if there was one I wanted. But iTunes is looking for a sign-on name. What on earth is it talking about?

I've an audible account and it's well worth it imo. Audiobooks rule!

When you signed up you gave a username and password. You can download the file but if you want to play it or even play it on another computer, you need the username and password.
Sure otherwise, these audiobooks would be getting copied. In fact, they probably already are!

If you don't remember your login details then go to the website and there will be some feature somewhere to have these emailed to you.

You can buy stuff on itunes too but thats a different id and password. Completly different from audible. However audible is designed to work with itunes so when you buy from the website it goes straight to itunes.

I think I've made that sound more complicated then it is :(

I do have a username and password, but can't see how to get past the whines for me to open an account and actually search the site!

Oh, wait, are you saying I should use my Audible username and password in iTunes?

Hmm. Tried to set up an iTunes account, but it has the country set wrong in my iTunes, and that's not changeable.

yes it is, just change the itunes store you're trying to sign up to. it's down the bottom of the page on the itunes store homepage.
