Advice on HTPC/Server build.

Hi,
I'm building a HTPC which will also act as a home server. I'll also be using it for some video encoding.

Just wondering if these components are suitable to the task or if there are any better components available for a similar price. Also if you notice any incompatibilities, let me know.


Motherboard: Asus P5E-V HDMI, G35, Socket-775, DDR2, ATX, GbLAN, Firewire, HDMI/DVI, PCI-Ex16
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0GHz 1333Mhz Socket LGA775, 4MB, BOXED w/fan
HD: 2 x Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM [ SPECIAL OFFER ]
RAM: OCZ DDR2 PC6400 2048MB KIT, Reaper HPC, 2x1024MB, Heat Pipe, (CL4-3-3-15), E.P.P
PSU: Corsair Powersupply 450W, 120mm Vifte, 6xSATA, ATX/EPS, 1xPCI-E, 20/24pin - Is 450 watts too much for a HTPC? Keep in mind that I may be adding TV cards to it soon.

Go with a Quad for video encoding...

Komplett are not competitive imo, hardwareversand are the cheapest around...

Do you have a case, os, dvd drive?



If you have no case, this a good case + psu

I have a case but I like the look of the one you mentioned. Is the psu in it any good?

I'll be doing very little video encoding, though I might go for the q6600 assuming it doesn't use much extra power than the core 2 duo?

How long does it usually take hardwareversand to deliver?
