Blueberry plants

The RHS website recommends an ericaceous compost with a ph of 4.5 - 5.5 and a root cover of 450mm minimum to successfully grow blueberries. I am planning a raised bed - will the ericaceous compost affect the surrounding plants - will the acidic soil in the raised bed make the surrounding soil acidic and damage the plants/grass.

    Thanks.

it shouldn't, but to be sure to be sure, you could always line the raised bed with polythene to ensure that nothing leaked out.

As ravima said, separate the blueberry planting hole from the surrounding soil with polythene, making sure to pierce some drainage holes in liner,I planted two bushes a few years ago this way, growing well, nice fruit crop, need netting over them to protect from birds, same can be done for rhodeadendrums.

Yep yep - buy a compost designed for azaleas, rhodedendrons and hydrangeas and then plant in a lined bed.
