Hi all, getting married in Rome in August and need to organise the honeymoon pronto, was suppossed to do it months ago but got caught up up in the Champions League, Heineken Cup, etc and didn't get around to it.
Don't fancy Tuscany, Sorrento is an option (although a pricey one!), anyone have any other ideas?????????
Doesn't neccessairly have to be Italy but we have a window of only about 10 or 11 days after the wedding before we need to be home so I suppose we don't want to travel too far.
Would appreciate any advice or ideas you could offer,
    Many Thanks!

Sicily is good OP, then you could go to corsica. Or malta/Cyprus. Eygpt also

A come on now its not the difficult! Whats your budget?
Lake Garda in northern Italy is supposed to be amazing also you could take a cruise in the Mediterranean. Both of those options could be pricey though.
There really is so much you can do if your starting in Rome!

How about a cruise around the Med. there are verying lengths so you can pick one that suits.
But i would say, no matter what you deciede to do, book online and you'll save a lot of cash compared to having a travel agent doing it for you.

You give the impression that price is a major consideration. I suppose you blew the budget following sport!

Glowing's suggestion of Croatia looks good for affordablity, and it's not too difficult: train from Rome to Ancona, overnight ferry to Split, and there you are. Lovely place, lots of nice things to see.

Croatia would be the right job if time and money are a problem. Have a look at www.tripadvisor.com will sort you out no matter where you decide to go. The Islands off Dubrovnick are really nice as is the old city ( can be alot of people around though). Put a few hours research into it and all will be fine, good luck !

I've heard tell by a few people in the know that Croatia isn't as cheap as most people think it is. Lovely place though, by all accounts.

It's not dirt cheap, but it's cheaper than Italy (where OP is getting married). There are good deals for accommodation, and that's not so easy to achieve in Italy.

Donno why you are ruling Tuscany out. One of my best holidays was spent there. It's a fantastic part of Italy and near to all the great cities. The countryside is wonderful.
As it's your honeymoon, I'd start with a couple of nights in Venice, you can't get a much more romantic city than that. I spent a lot of time just taking the vaporettos up and down the canels. The city is breathtaking. You can get a 3 day pass and hop on and off as you please.
I recommend staying on the Lido. We stayed in the suite of this bed and breakfast. Pics on their site don't do it justice.
It has a large roof terrace which looks back at the cities sky line and is private to the suite. A wonderful place to stay. It's the vaporettos last stop.

Venice in August -- yes, breathtaking indeed. Downright smelly. And expensive.

Many Cruise lines operate 10-11 night luxury cruises around intereesting and romantic ports in the mediterranean departing from Rome or nearby. MSC Cruises is one in particular that specialise in this sort of thing. Google them. There's also Celebrity, Princess & many others.

We did a mediterranean cruise for our honeymoon and it was the best holiday ever, check it out...
