    Hi,

Heading to Portugal on Saturday morning, flying to Faro. My girlfriend is Diabetic and was wondering if anyone has had any hassle with customs with carrying on her insulin injections?

Or any websites with info about what she can bring on board?

If any can be of any help id appreciate it.

    Cheers,
    Mr Soft

Travelling myself for about 17 years with diabetes, including to Portugal. Customs folks are usually pretty understanding about the insulin but do ask to see a doctors letter if they do come across the injections. Best to carry a doctors letter from her consultant with you when travelling.

No problems , have gone twice with no hassle. As per standard get the letter from hosp/coc and that covers you .

I've been travelling for years with all the various needles and pens etc. Have never once needed to show a letter from a doctor and always tend to just leave the stuff in my carry on bag without bothering with that ziplock plastic bag rubbish either.

Keep everything that might possibly be needed during the trip in your carry on though and do not put it in with your hold baggage. If they do happen to do an additional search of the carry on bag then tell them there are needles in it before they start rummaging just out of courtesy to the searcher. Do not let them take anything off you though and if they start questioning stuff then just ask for their supervisor, I only needed to do that once in Geneva though and I think it was that guys first day on the job.
