Just wondering is anyone was picking it up, I don't suppose many would be because of the obvious pricing issue.

It is a shame as it was one game I was really looking forward to, especially to have a few friends over for a bbq and some rockin'

just noticed according to play.com its today but amazon its the 23rd.

The instruments were out today (at a great big ****in 170 euro!!) but the game isnt out till friday! Another way of milking us for our money considering it was under $200 in america for the whole thing.... bastards:mad:

After the little bit of leaks of info and pictures of the drumset from the upcoming Guitar Hero 4. I think I shall wait for that to come out later this year :)

Rockband is fun, however I found the guitars not as nice to play as GH ones, and the drumkit pictures from GH4 look a lot nicer with their symbols to smack :D

I didn't even know it was out so soon. Too expensive for me, so I won't be getting it anyway...

A couple of questions for you:

Can you buy the instruments seperate, and if so how much for the guitar?

Does the Guitar Hero guitar work with it?

i wont be buying it. not yet anyway too expensive. and when i do i won't be buying it from irish retailers. i bought guitar hero fo 50 euro off ebay the other day was pretty happy with that.

If there's a few of you in a gaff you could chip in together and buy a copy of the game here and get all the instruments online. You'll save a packet that way.

The instruments come in one box which has the guitar, microphone and drumkit. You cannot buy them seperatly.

As for compatibiltiy [on the xbox360] the RockBand guitar will not work with other titles, however the Guitar Hero guitar will work with all titles including Rock Band.

    Decent compatibility guide here:

Drum Kit is being released separately on Friday. £69.99 which I assume will be €100 here.

I'll probably get the game, purely because I have the GH3 controller and from what I hear, RB has a much better selection of tracks. Won't be playing the non-guitar parts of the game at those prices though.

the guitar will be released and the drums too separately at about 100 euro id say for the drums. id guess at about 70 for the guitar. you can use any USB mic as well.

It's a right rip-off when you consider the US price, over twice as expensive. No justification for that, even when taking exchange rate, tax and transport into it. Crazy, I'd rather put the money towards an MGS4 bundle.

From what I've heard, the publisher and developer will appear as contestants on that new 'The Price Is Wrong' game show.

Got my drums new on ebay for €60. Getting the game on Saturday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,761 ✭✭✭✭Winters

I didnt know they were selling them seperatly .. my bad :(

After reading this I think i will definitly hold off for Guitar Hero 4 though: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=141762

what what, GH4 will have drums? if the price is right then im there!!

As much as i want Rock Band i will not be buying it at its current price. Rip off.

Apparently Konami are bringing out "Rock Revolution", complete with drums, guitars etc. There will be no space for all this crap soon.

I'll grab Rock Band with the strat on Friday I think, since I only have the GH's on PS2. I smell easy achievement points.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,285 ✭✭✭Smellyirishman

    I smell easy achievement points.

Not with just the guitar, well, the one available will be easy but you'll only be able to get half or less.

GH4 does look promising, but compared to GH2 they botched GH3 so I'll be sticking with HMX until Neversoft prove themselves competent.

This is all being discussed in the Guitar Hero Form btw.

A video for that can be seen in the GH forum I linked to and it looks like absolute tripe.

Wish I was able to pick this up on Friday, but theres no chance I can justify paying that much. I'd pick it and the drums up if I could, but alas no GH guitar to go along with it - only the PS2 one.

I think GH4 and this Rock Revo. business is dreadful though. Seems like a cheap copy. Companies will always copy a good idea, and a market will always have competition, but tis a shame Konami and Activision are just going to piggy back off the innovation of Harmonix.

I already have two guitars from gh2 and gh3, shame it costs so much to buy the instruments seperately.

I was playing Guitar Freaks when you whippersnappers were still in diapers, dognabbit!

Was in Gamestop on Liffey St yesterday. They are selling the drums on their own for €80. The game is €70 and the instrument pack is €170

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭Jerichoholic

Any official word on a guitar price?

They did get there first with the periphirals, but Rock Revolution sounds pretty identical to Rock Band. Would love to see them do something different with it - something crazy and Japanese, prefferably, like their older ones e.g. Guitar Freaks, which I have never got to play.

Even the game itself is overpriced. XtraVision normally have all new releases for 60. It's 70 for this. Think I'll leave it for a while.

It's actually €75 in my local

After playing this in HMV, I HAVE to buy this, contrary to what my bank account is telling me :(

    Off to town I go.

Got it today and immediatly downloaded the Metallica song pack. Well worth the 440 points. Some great songs included on the game itself also. The drums are wicked.:)

Out of curiosity are Play.com shipping the instrumental edition to Ireland?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,485 ✭✭✭Mr. K

I've downloaded The Police and Boston packs, Metallica's next! It's great fun, I'll try to pick up the drums cheap sometime. And I'd like to try the Strat, but the Les Paul from GH3 will do.

No, they wont. You would probably be done for customs anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,324 ✭✭✭chrislad

You don't get customs between EU countries.

Does anyone know what the prices are on a separate guitar hero guitar or a preowned one in gamestop, either guitar from GH 2 or GH 3, doesnt matter to me.

As far as I know, big items go to London then onwards to Ireland to avoid such charges. Could be wrong though.

According MCV, HMV are doing a deal including the game, instruments and microphone for £130 in the UK, any ideas how much they're charging in Ireland?

Was in there today and its 200 for the lot. Gave it a play and its loads of fun. So tempting, but I should probably save my money for more reasonable purchases!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,007 ✭✭✭Gerard_Smith

Generally when play.com won't ship something outside the UK it very clearly says so. There is no such warning on Rock Band or the instrumental edition.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 51 ✭✭badrobot

The notice isn't that clear but I went through the checkout and everything (the Band in a Box pack) and they won't post it to outside the UK. So annoying.

Guess I'll just get it in HMV, doesn't seem like that bad a deal. Relatively, I mean. It's still a huge amount of money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,281 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

I saw a sign outside Zavvi in Liffey Valley that it's €190 for the lot. I went in and it looked like it was €75 for the game on it's own

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,825 ✭✭✭Mikeyt086

    This game is bloody brilliant.

Singing and Guitaring is some challenge though, you really have to know the lyrics yourself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,195 ✭✭✭✭Basq

Was away from Boards when this was released and have been sick the last couple of days.. was unaware it was even released. Am torn on whether to buy it or not.

Seems a bit pointless just buying the games without the drums etc.

And when GH4 comes out, I'd assume the drums in that won't be compatible and vice-versa. Too much hassle!

But girlfriend is up in Dublin next weekend so might get her to pick the game up in Argos, but have a €50 Zavvi voucher I may use either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,828 ✭✭✭unklerosco

Picked up the drums n game today(alread have GH3 controller)...

Its brill, drums take some getting used to... that n the fact im pants at drums. The guitar is much the same only the track list is far far better and the amount of songs u can buy in the store.... I'll be poor(er) come the weekend.

Slick game, GH4 would wanna be special and have a fantastic track list to beat this...

Well i sold my soul, caved and bought Rock Band. I got it while the offer is on in Zavvi so its cheaper.

Im not blown away by it. In fact im a little disappointed. It took me a while to get the calibration right and even now its not perfect. I play the drums in real life, have gigged, yet according to rock band my timing isnt always right, which is becoming frustrating.

I find GH3 more enjoyable however I havent had a party session of Rock Band yet.

faceman.. check your model number of your drums - see here!

I'm playing with an EL model and I'm finding it missing beats from time to time.

I'm still quite impressed with it.. but very much a newbie at the drums, so I'm working my way through easy. Things weren't going grand until 'Maps'.. there's a helluva step up from the 10 - 12 songs previous to it.
