Peugeot 406 2.2 HDi Coupe Timing Belt

Can anyone tell me the service interval for getting my 2003 Peugeot 406 2.2 HDi Coupe timing belt done? I currently have 45k miles on the clock.

I have asked many different dealers and gotten wildly different mileage & yearly figures.

Also does anyone know how much the job costs i.e how much I can reasonably expect to pay?

Any Peugeot mechanic/salesperson or person fullstop to answer this?

    Greetings from a fellow owner
according to the lads on the 406 coupe club forum its 96k for the Hdi - years wise i've heard 8 years, any peugeot or citroen garage will tell you the answer there. I just got mine changed yesterday by pure coincidence, did it early at 82k. You will also need to change the water pump at the same time. One thing to note, this is true for both Citroen and Peugeot Hdi's around 2002, not sure about 2003 - the crankshaft pulley is also prone to failure at around the same interval as the belt, and if it goes it will make a real mess, sending shards into the engine. Happened to a colleague of mine's C5. I got a timing belt kit for approx 150 and water pump for 50 from GSF near Clondalkin. As the mechanic only discovered the crankshaft pulley issue during the change, had to get an OEM part for that, so got raped for 140 there (think they're about 80 in GSF).
As for labour cost, worked out at about 250 or so, which was really good considering its no joke to change one of these. I ahd couple other minor jobs as well for total labour cost 300 hence 'around 250'. Got it done by an independant Citroen specialist guy called Kevin Hurst in Carbury, Kildare. Would recommend. PM me if you need his number, but you neednt bother worrying about that belt for a while yet.
