Train between Berlin and Amsterdam - 3V card

Hi, Bit of an obscure question..... I am hoping to go by train from Berlin to Amsterdam next month, and want to use a 3V (prepaid visa card) card to buy the ticket on-line from here. Their web-site said you had to have the credit card in your name and they will check it as your ID on the train, so I'm just wondering if I'm gonna have a problem - as its not actually a credit card as such. Has anyone ever had any problem or difficulty using a 3V card, and them not recognising it as a valid credit card. ? cheers Mark

I'd imagine you could run into problems. The conductor will ask for your credit card to verify the ticket, so if you don't have a physical card your ticket will not be valid. It would be better to purchase the ticket in the station, but then you'll not have any of the special offers available.

Edit: I'm assuming the 3V card is not an actual card but just a virtual number?

I've booked hotels in Germany using the 3V and it worked fine. There is an actual card so it shouldn't be a problem. Try emailing Deutsche Bahn in advance to inquire if you're apprehensive.
