Sky new installation query

    Hi

    In a fortnight i am moving into a new flat. However i am aware the previous occupier has had great issues with BT getting round to installing a phone line. I already have a sky box that is not under contract so i wondered is it going to be possible for me to get sky installed without one and without purchasing a new box?

    Is it going to be best to do this through sky or a private installer and how much is it looking to cost me without box?

    To clarify i am only after regular sky, not sky + or multiroom

    Get a new installation done, with new box and new dish. There is a one-off €37.50 charge for having no phoneline, but sure it's still cheaper than 2 months line rental.

    Are you allowed to erect your own dish on the flat? Or is there a communal dish? If there is a communal dish and you have a satellite point in the living room, you can just connect up your existing box to see if it works (there are many free stations without subscription to Sky). If it works, all you'll need is a "second hand contract" from Sky, which will just cost you your monthly subscription, no install fee as nobody installed anything except yourself!
