    Hi Guys,

How much do you reckon a taxi would cost from city centre to Portmarnock on a Saturday night... I'm going to a wedding and trying to budget well in advance, can't guarantee it will go to plan, but it'd be good to have a ballpark figure!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! ;)

It's been a while since I took a cab home but last time I paid 24 euro.

Depends on which city centre. Going from Cork or Galway will pretty much ruin your chances of a good night out.

From Dublin City Centre I take it?

Around €25 yo yo I'd imagine. Bit more depending where exactly in city you get it.

I'm going to have a guess at €30-€40. I could be way off though, but it won't be cheap.

30 euro is for a cab from Sandymount/Booterstown to the airport.

It's approx 25 euro from the city centre to Portmarnock.

Depends on where you're sitting adjacent to the taxi driver. It used to be a pound of flesh. But they realised there's more money to be had on the Black Market.

I'm a taxi driver. Recently I picked up a lady going from the Olympia, up the malahide road to the apartments by Portmarnock train station. It came to around €23. The nice lady gave me €25.

From O'Connell Bridge via Howth Road - Donaghmede - Hole in the Wall Road should be no more than €30.

Depends where in city and what end portmarnock, but 25-30.... shouldn't be more than 30 anyway unless you have extras..!

I got a cab from station Road to O'Connell Street in December, which cost me €20, however that is the lowest I have ever paid in the two years I am there. From Crawdaddy to Portmarnock, it came to €28. Both of these went the Malahide Road route. Going the Coast Road route via Baldoyle, in my experience, tends to me a bit more, as is a longer distance.

Thanks for the help guys! I'll be taking a taxi from Dublin city centre, not Galway I'm glad to say :D Have found a few people to share the taxi with, so I wont be spending my whole weeks wages thankfully!

Thanks again for the help ;)

If your budgeting get the Nitelink.

Fold the notes over so it looks like you are giving them twice as much. Hey presto, half price taxi.

As I dont live in the city centre myself, the Nitelink isnt feasible.
I plan to get the bus/dart out to Portmarnock from the city centre and share the taxi home with some friends.

Hopefully I can get dropped off at my house on the way home so I dont have to go all the way into the city centre, only to come back out again :p

Has anyone ever copped on to the fact that the nightlink for 5 or 6 people together can be more expensive than sharing an MPV style taxi ??? ;)

And let's not forget that the only drunks you're sharing with are your mates and that you don't get dropped on a main street 3 mile from your door.

If your sharing a cab make sure your the last out, drunk muppets always give way too much cab fare to "last out" and he/she normally ends up quids in
