I got a new sky box with the sky plus on thursday.
New dish as my one was too old (11 years)
    sky plus box
    fitting
    all for €155.
My installer fixed up everthing and that was grand,He told me it will be at least 24 hours to activate the system.
So i presumed in the late hours of friday, nothing!
sat, nothing!sunday nothing! and so i rang up the services today and they said they will activate me for another €20 i went mad when i heard that.Asked for manager and got left on hold on me mobile! at least 15 mins.Still got no satifaction?
Whats he next step should i take as i paid enough.I know €20 sounds smalll but the point is why should i pay more!

Are you on the phone line system??? It should be instant. When I got a basic sub years ago, it took 4 hours, max, and thats only cos I had no phone line. Don't pay another penny. Contacy SKY direct and ask to speak to customer services.:mad:

Then how is your sky box supposed to communicate with them??:confused:

They "ping" the box and the box "responds"....it can't do that if there is no outgoing phone line.

I think that might be your problem. They want extra money to fix it.

Your not really paying anymore money than the usual cost - To get Sky+ in with Sky directly, it costs €195 (box €149 plus €45 installation). So you are still saving even by paying the €20.

If the €20 is the surcharge they are charging you for not having a phoneline connection, you're saving there, as it's supposed to be €37.50

I understood that SKY+ and Multiroom could NOT be installed WITHOUT a fully operating phone line AT ALL!!!:confused::confused:

No one is fibbing. You can install Sky+ without a phoneline for an additional once-off €37.50 as someone mentioned above.

You MUST have a phoneline for multiroom.

hi good news rang sky again they ask me who was my installer, told them and got phone number.
Rang the installer he said the the fee of €20 is already included in the price.
He came back and took away box to use his phone line and he f##ked sky out of the problem that we were having.
got compensated for free 2 months use of sky hurray!
When you buy any package the activation is always with the full price you pay.
    Thanks for the help guys.:D

Just out of interest, who did you get to sell and install sky+? If theres a way of saving money i.e. €155 instead of €194 for sky+ installed!!!

I want to get Sky HD in soon, so any saving would be great!!!

Sure buy a SKY+ box off Ebay, install it yourself, then ring Sky and ask for a card and a connection. You could do that for less than the asking price, I feel.
