highest value item bought on ebay?

I'm looking at getting a camera on ebay for about €300. Have nearly 50 items bought on ebay, but usually about €20-€60, nothing too expensive. Did buy a phone in Australia for about $150 and that was fine, but would be a bit wary of more. Seller has 29,000 ratings, and about 98% rating, so seems alright.

I suppose main reason I am wary is coz my friend just 'bought' an xbox for about €400, and got rightly stung. Xbox arrived and it was broken. Yer man was a right dick and my mate posted it back at his cost and got no refund, and ebay say they cant do anything because it was an electrical good. so he lost a lot of money over it.

Will probably get the camera, suppose I am just looking for a bit of reassurance!

Use this to check the sellers negative feedback. 2% of 29,000 is actually quite a lot. See what sort of negative comments are given, and if the seller gives any response. I find it invaluable in determining how good a seller is.

If your friend with the Xbox payed through Paypal, he should go straight to them to get his money back. Forget eBay, they are next to useless in buyer/seller disputes. If he payed from his credit card on Paypal, he may also be able to get some comeback that way via a charge back. If he didn't use Paypal, he's screwed.

I bought 2 cameras from these lads, ordered each time on a Thursday, item arrrived out on a Monday, have no problem recommending them. Both cameras were brand new, perfect condition. I've no affiliation, just found them to be top notch

checked out ratings on a few selling cameras, and most seem to be given negative ratings because of import tax, but that is stated clearly in the item description that you may have to pay it, so they really shouldnt be given negatvie for that. Had seen citiworld too, and have them bookmarked. So I suppose there seems to be no reason why I shouldnt go throught the list and pick out the best one.

WRT the xbox and paypal, I'll say it to my friend. In fairness, he has been a bit lazy about it all too, and was resigned to the fact he lost the money instead of fighting and making sure he got it back. I certainly wouldnt have let it go so easy.

I bought an iPhone for €450, works perfectly!

Have no qualms about spending this type of money on eBay just remember to research your seller fully!

well I bought the camera last Thursday, and it arrived perfectly by Fed-Ex yesterday in excellent condition, brand new and top quality. No tax to pay either which was a bonus as I was prepared to take a hit, but they valued it so it wouldnt be too bad in any case. Well worth it anyway, and was worth taking a bit of time looking at sellers and seeing the feedback.

Fed Ex usually pay for you and send a bill afterwards, only as a heads up.
