okay, simple enough thread here, about dealers an tipping in casino's

okay, i have to admit i consider myself a mediocre tipper, but i dont go over the top and i sometimes tip too less, an average tipper really
but something keeps happening to me in casino's and its starting to bug me, i generally play poker but sometimes head over to roulette or blackjack for a bit of a gamble.
i can remember one night i was down around 700 in the cash game and i went over to roulette with 25, threw it on red and it hit, and then threw one of the 25's on red again and it hit, and i walked away with 75. and i hear from behind me the dealers saying "no tip" in my direction. This isn't actually new either, a lot of times on roulette i go over with 30 or 40 just go for a double up and they actually expect a tip everytime.
My question is, should i really tip or is it rude of the dealers to even ask?

and yes, i know this thread makes me sound stingy but i never know what to tip when playing roulette :P

p.s. i do generally actually tip the dealers in roulette(when i have smaller chips or colours), but when i only have 25 chips i dont like breaking them because i know for a fact i'll gamble the other 24

Any dealer that asks for a tip isnt doing their job properly and so wont get a tip.

Think your right not to really wouldnt break it but if i had small denomination chips on the poker table would probably just drop it over to them.

Another problem ive seen a few times is playing with fools that cash in 50 dont have a clue how to play suck out on you win 120 pot for example and decide to tip the dealer 20 and this continues for the night massive tips from one or two fools and along with the rake is just taking every penny off the table. It been a part a the reason im staying away from cash in my local club.

Im a pretty decent cash game tipper but when it comes to tournaments i just dont have a clue what i should tip.

What would be an adequate tip in the following examples this is profit made

    €100

    €200

    €500

    €1000

    dot.

Seriously if dealers get tipped a euro a hand dealing poker becomes a fairly well paid job, if someone tips one euro when they win a 10euro pot and one euro when they win a 1000euro pot Ill be happy with that.

They shouldn't ask for a tip nor should they make comments like that when they don't receive one.

    Report them to the management.

I tend to leave the tipping until the rare occassion I'm actually cashing out but I'd consider myself to be generous enough when I do so. I also tip whenever I hit a big hand or whenever I dog someone as people tend to tilt easily when they see money they think should have been their's being thrown back to the dealer.

A euro whenever you win a hand or a spin.

If you don't have small chips, no need to tip.

If everyone followed this rule, we'd all be happy.

(either that or no-one would carry small chips!).

Thats not true at all. People would have to start tipping 3-5 euro a hand before you would get any noticible increase in the tip point. I guess it would also depend on number of staff etc.

As a dealer, i really didnt care about who was tipping what, as long as the players were nice and polite, and generally not arseholes.

Also, it is a bit cheeky asking for a tip, but i wouldnt automatically not tip a dealer if he/she asked.

Its very true, if every cash game is taking in €25-30 an hour in tips everyone should be on a half decent wage.

well no you should not play roulette, because it's -EV.

Unless you've got some sort of scam going on?
