IT Jobs in Cork?

    Hi,

I'm going to move to Cork in July, and am just finishing an HND in computing with network support (possibly with a distinction). I'm not from Ireland so I'm not too sure where to start looking for a job. I checked FAS, and saw some relevant jobs, but most were helpdesk positions, is there anywhere else I can try? Ideally I'd like an IT technician post.

    Cheers for any advice :)

Cheers, the second link looks awesome!
I've spent ages just looking through different recruitment sites today, and it's so frustrating trying to find the right kind of job! But hey, I think that's all I can do :)

Unless you have some experience it's very hard to start in anything other than helpdesk...

Yeah, I was kinda expecting that unfortunately. I only have a couple of months of work experience that I did, and I learned nothing! It was the worst placement ever :(

Some bigger companies in Cork: Apple, Siemens, EMC, Boston Scientific, Musgraves.

Cheers Dudess, if I can't get anything sorted before I move to Cork, hopefully once I'm there I'll be able to find out a bit more about how to go about getting into some of the companies that are based there. It doesn't help that I have no idea where abouts in Cork I'll actually end up living, but hopefully that problem will be solved in a few weeks :)
    Cheers for the help!

No probs Cabal. Ah it's easy enough to get sorted in Cork for accommodation - so easy to get around there due to its small size and relative lack of traffic problems. Other good companies: Heineken, Beamish & Crawford. And in the harbour area there are countless pharmaceutical multinationals. Pfizer is supposed to be great.

U for real?? Public Transport resembles one from a developing country and as a result traffic at rush hour is painful. Granted perhaps traffic isn't as heavy and congested for as long as it would be in Dublin.

anyway, back to the point, OP there are IT jobs in Cork but you might have to look a little harder. There are many IT companies that are small and under the radar but they are working on some interesting areas in IT.

I said "relative" lack of traffic problems - it's nothing compared to Dublin.

Hmmmm, sounds interesting! I reckon it will be easier to find something once I get there and get to know some people from the area.

    Cheers again for the help!
