I got this game a few months ago and haven't really played it much. Mostly because mario galaxy and mario kart came out in between. I finish most games I get and find them straight forward enough and challenging to a point. But I'm finding metroid prime ridiculously hard. It's a great game and looks great but it's seriously complicated. Is it just me? Maybe it's just the type of game it is and it doesn't click with me.

Its a discovery game, its supposed to recover exploration to get ahead. Its not as difficult as the earlier games IMO.

I found the second one was frustrating when I got stuck in the dark worlds and just didn't find it fun anymore so stopped.

The first one is classic and unbelievably good. Really recommend you pick up a copy and a gamecube controller to make your way through it.

Will do. I really like it. I'm starting to play it more now that I'm finished galaxy and mario kart.

Found the game an absolute doodle compared to the other metroid prime games. TBH the game is more about exploration than action (although the reduction in the boss and emeny challenge is criminal imo) and the game is way more linear what with the very unsubtle hint system compared to the other 2 games and the small size of each world. the really isn't complicated, it only pretends to be especially compared to the first two games.

I totally agree. The first metroid prime final boss battle was epic. Easily one of the greatest boss battles of any game ever! You had to use every weapon, every visor and every bit of skill in your arsenal. Even then it respawned 3 times!
But the final boss in prime 3 was a joke. There was no use of weapons or visors, he never even got my energy lower than 60%. Too easy.

But i guess if you're not used to metroid games you might not feel the same

Yup, The Wii game was the easiest in the Prime series so far, the other two, particularly Echoes, being far harder.
The end boss in Corruption was relatively easy, but there was a nice selection of bosses, namely your former comrades, to beat before that, so foul really.
Metroid Prime Corruption is a wonderful game, lets hope that maybe, just maybe we may see some more Samus adventures by them on the Wii, perhaps that Metroid Prime Collection for the Wii, maybe?

Yeah the first one is easily one of the greatest games I've ever played on any console or Pc ever. Really worth picking up :D

I have my copy of it and nothing could get me to get rid of it. I still have intentions of going back to it at some stage when I run out of new games to play which will take a while :D

The last boss battle is class in MP because it just goes on so long and your stupidly powerful and the boss is stupidly powerful so it just becomes this huge epic battle that you really feel a part of unlike some games boss battles where you have fook all input! Its where the MP control scheme reveals why it was such an incredibley good idea IMO. Although it does that for a lot of the game anyway I suppose.

Its also an incredibely good looking game, at least as good as MP3 but probably a bit better looking environments from an artistic perspective. They feel more alive than in MP3.

If you like the exploring, scanning and changing modes etc... to kill enemies and open doors in MP3, then MP is a game for you!

But your not getting the lend of my copy :p

I'd also recommend playing Metroid Fusion on GBA if you have a DS or GBA as its probably the best 2D game in the series IMO.

Blasphemer! Super Metroid is way better. However Fusion and zero mission are wonderful games. There aren't many games better than Super Metroid, although some could rightfully argue that there aren't any better :)

Having cleared all the MP's I'd say what Corruption brought to the table was a greater sense of immersion compared to the previous two in the series. Granted, this was mainly due to the Wii-mote, but if they do make another 3D Metroid, I hope they build upon this, because in my eyes, that's what made Corruption very enjoyable, in spite of it's shift towards action and dumbing down of the difficulty.

I never managed to finish Super Metroid so I can't say its the best for me.

    I'm a wuss :D

It goes in order of % completed for me :D

I keep meaning to try but never manage to get through them as I get frustrated when I get stuck in parts. I found the Snes game had too many buttons in use and I always had to think for a second, kind of stopped me enjoying it as much as the other games in the series TBH.

Only ever played hunters on the DS, It was alright but I never got around to finishing it, got a bit boring and repetive, didnt like having to backtrack...

The DS one is probably the worst in the entire series. Its definitely the worst 3D one.

It wasn't made by retro studio's as far as I know which caused part of the problem and they tried to make it more of a shooter and less of a Metroid Prime game and ended up somewhere in between which is really what is wrong with it.

Didn't find it too tricky myself - I would say if you just kept on coming and going at irregular intervals though it might get a bit tricky. You have to immerse yourself in the world and learn the levels well since theres a lotta back and forth and so on. Didn't find the bosses too difficult, just takes a while to get used to the controls and gameplay.

Still not a patch on 2d metroid though :pac: Followed Corruption with Super Metroid and that is one fine game.

:)just got it from ebay with a riciculous price ,so far so good.i guess the wii version is more 'commercial' compare to the others if ya guys get what i mean.

fancy game, defo the prettiest looking graphic among the series.and the way they want you to do the next step etc is really obvious and easy to figure out - that keep you playing the game for hours, unlike 1st or 2nd installment,i remember i left echoes for long time to get back, then off,on and off for 3 times ,and still havent finished it till today

I dont understand how people say its better looking than the others. All 3 run on the same Graphics/Games engine; you could call it the Prime engine I suppose. The only improvement is in the level and model detail; realistically each is the same as the last.

Skipped Echoes to be honest. Enjoyed the first and thoroughly enjoyed the third - couldnt put it down till i was finished with it. Some bits are frustrating of course like when you are looking for those energy doo hickies but besides that its okay. Just be ready for a bunch of back-tracing where you've already been: one of the great annoyances with the Title, to be honest.

The environments are prettier in the first one IMO, its not that the graphics are better, its the objects in the world and their appearance that makes it better looking. I still remember being wowed by the first level of prime when you land on planet with the waterfall and green area on the level. It just looked incredible at the time and still looks pretty damn good IMO.

I don't mind back tracking as long as the environments are interesting. Think it was Quake two that I just couldn't handle because of the back tracking through levels that were all the same colour and just boring. At least in Prime, there are regional environments with snow areas, spring time like areas, volcanic etc... Means your not constantly looking at the same thing.

The only problem I have with it in prime is you rarely feel like your making progress. I do like the "ah I got that upgrade, now I can open this door on this level in this region" feeling as opposed to getting an upgrade, wondering what it is for and then arriving at a door you can use it on like in so many other games.

 It's maybe the 3rd best 2d game in the series!!! Maybe!
Super Metroid > Metroid Zero Mission > Metroid Fusion

TBH, even though they claim the engine was built from the ground up for each title to take advantage of the extra things they'd learned, I think it was more rebuilt with tweaks each time, so it's like a modified version of the same engine each time.

To be honest, I never finished Echos, the last boss was just too frustrating, never beat it!!!
    Beat Prime and Corruption though
