I'm heading to Bangkok and looking for some recommendations for a luxurious hotel that people might have stayed at.

I was looking at the Shangri La but there seems to be lots of building work going on there over the summer.

Would greatly appreciate some recommendations ideally in a good location for site seeing.

Theres tons of luxury hotels in Bangkok, however Im normally staying in 5 euro a night diggs down on the Khao San Road so I cant recommend any.

www.asiarooms.com might be a good place to start and they usually have some good online discounts.

Amari is a hotel group in thailand which is high quality.

On my honeymoon, I stayed at the Amari Watergate. Very nice hotel and very classy.

Two of the best hotels in the world are the Peninsula and the Oriental in Bangkok.

The Oriental is an old style hote, and I found it a bit stuffy, tbh. The Peninsula on the other side was the probably best Hotel I ever stayed in. Everything about that Hotel is just pure class.

But both of them are on the Riverside. If you would like something more central I could recommend the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit. Very nice 5* Hotel, and usually quite a bit cheaper then the above 2.

I stayed in the Shangri La a few years back, hotel is quite big so depending on which part you are in there may not be problems with building work. There are different entrances and lobbies, I stayed in Krungtep wing (or something like that), really nice view over the river and it had some nice restaurants in it. There are a few other nice looking hotels in that same area but I forget the names.

stayed in the shangri-la too last year, well worth going for a luxury hotel cos they're so cheap in bangkok. hotel was great, top notch food and facilities, right on the river and also the skytrain. the only thing that isn't that close is kho san road but taxi's cost nothing

i've done both, a cheap as chips hostel on KSR and the 5 star hotel and would go five star all the way

Problem is I think there is quite extensive building work going on and the they're closing the pool. Was thinking about the Conrad also....looks amazing on the net.
