    I've got a Tecra laptop that's around 2 years old at this stage.

    However I think it needs more ram - is it easy to install this if I get it, or is it best to get someone who knows what they're doing to do this?

    In most cases it's fairly piss easy to install. The hardest part is finding it and even that's easy. Download a program called cpu z, this will tell you what type of ram you need.

    Whats the model number?

    As the Cushion said, it's very easy to install and definately a DIY job.

    memory is usually very easy to upgrade. crucial have a good online tool that will help you know what ram you need and you should find it an komplett.ie

    www.cpuz.org = http://www.cpuid.com/

    sometimes the online ones list memory that work not necessiarly the one that works best, I've had them recoment 100MHz for a toshiba when the first chip was a 133

    usually one screw to remove and it clips in - manual will tell you
