Dunno if it's valid (due to it being reality show or whatever) but this years Survivor was unreal compared to older seasons.

Lost has made a huge jump too (it's actually telling us stuff)

The way which Torchwood managed to improve over it's pretty poor first season was phenomenal.

Torchwood should win this outright - I've never witnessed such a massive increase in quality. Hard to believe it's the same show.

Not sure BSG has improved that much (although I haven't see "Guess Whats Coming To Dinner" yet, which I hear was fantastic).

Torchwood is a great choice, by the way.

Yep. Torchwood probably deserves the title more than any show ever in the history of time.

But probably not as many people watch it as the other shows being put forward so it may not do too well here.

Emmm ok. i stoped wathcing torchwood in season 1 i just couldent watch it and i kinda forgot about it but after this many i think ill give it a shot.

Id nominate BSG or House buit when i think about it its just the fact im seing new episodes that all really. Both shows maintain such a high standard and i love them but new episodes arnt an improvement there just amazing. but when you think back after watching an amazing episode you can pick other ones that match it, like when house and wilson season2/3

Smallville has risen head and shoulders above each of its previous 6 seasons , its been truely brilliant this year.
Lost has also been a huge surprise, considering the awful season 3.

LOST has been great this year but as other posters have said Torchwood was brilliant. Such a vast improvement on Season 1
