does that mean the first ever episode? I'm confused seeing as people are nominating things like Peep Show and South Park..

No, it means a first run, zuchum (first time on TV). Season 3 of How I Met Your Mother, and Season 12 of South Park and Season 7 of Scrubs just aired, so all of those shows qualify.

However, nominating Season 6 of Friends because it was on E4 doesn't count (its 9 years old).
