So, I'm not sure exactly how this happened, but my camera appears to be dead. When I fully charge it and hit the power button, the lens extracts as per normal, the light comes on... But that's it!

It's definitely not just the viewfinder that's busted, since it won't take photos or respond at all once powered on. In fact, it powers itself off after a while (which is normal behaviour) and then I can't power it back on again...

Does any one have any suggestions? Is there any chance that it's a faulty battery? I'm kinda thinking that would be the best outcome from something like this. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot / fix (!) this?

I should mention that the camera *was* dropped once (not so ideal; from about waist height onto concrete), but it worked perfectly after that still and it was a long time ago.

Thanks in advance and Mods, apologies if this should be in a more technology-related forum. Feel free to move!

I can't believe this; the camera's been "broken" for about 2 months now. I finally decide to post about it, and seconds later I manage to fix it! :D

In case anyone's interested, the camera seems to have taken a particular disliking to my SD card. It's a 2GB "Lexar" card. I removed it just on a whim, and sure enough the camera starts up perfectly!

I'm surprised this was the issue. I would have thought that the camera would have at least "booted", for want of a better word. In any event, I'll leave this thread here since it might help someone out in my situation in the future... I can't stand when people reply to themselves with a problem saying just "Never mind, I fixed it." :D
