The wifi function on my Vostro 1700 doesnt seem to be working. I can connect with a network cable but cannot connect wirelessly.

The wifi light won't light up either. Any ideas?

    Cheers.

Honestly, try turning it on. there should be some sort of switch for it. It's a simple mistake, but one I've made.

Next, check your drivers. Try and ind the latest driver for your wireless card. Install them.

Finally, if it still doesn't work, Call Dell.

Lol, cheers. I know its usually something obvious but I'm not that bad......usually!

Checked the drivers already and they are up to date, can't even find networks now, very annoying.

    Do you have a firewall?

that could also be blocking netwrok connections. But if nyou're not getting anything at all, then the problem seems to be a little more serious.

    Dont mean to insult but...
The on switch on on the left hand side... on the side. Make sure thats on.
Also, make sure you have the wireless enabled, Its in your network setting somewhere.
If both those are on and no joy.... Hmmm.

Was it working before it wasnt? :D

Got onto Dell, took control of the system for over an hour, really top drawer service.

Turned out to be a driver conflict, wasnt the switch :p.

    Cheers anyway guys.
