This has to be one of the most offensive websites I have come across as a professional scientist. The tag line ,'The debate is over' is is typical of the bullying attitude of climate change action groups. In science the debate is never over and in this particular case its far from over.

I do agree that some of these groups can be very pushy/extremists (anti-smoking groups for example!) and it does irritate me, but again if it is helping to reduce the amount of polution in Ireland then so be it.

They don't literally mean the debate is over. They mean that the debate has reached such a point as that policy can be reasonably based upon it.

Funny, I'd regard people who feel they have a "right" to poison other people around them as extremists. Pretty deluded ones at that.

I love the TV ad - part of it shows kids going into school, Only thing is they are primary kids going into a private fee-paying secondary school near where I live (Wesley College) - what a "waste" of effort - surely they could have made it at a real primary school and not paid a load of "actors"

Only used an anti-smoking group as an example of a group that could be extremist due to something I had seen earlier in the day. Wasn't commenting on smokers.

This website is a pure joke.

Go to the site, there is a section where you can give comments.

Tell them what a disgrace it is.

Not quite sure what people are getting so worked up about? Is there something I'm missing?

Well, lets start with the fact that the whole theory of global warming (sorry, climate change) is based on rubbish.

As a result, one could say that this site is nothing more than an attempt to brainwash (to an even greater extent) the masses.

As for people who want a carbon tax, I assume you like living in the cold.

And I seen last week that a group dumped one tonne of coal to the government, no doubt a paid group as the government are crying out to introduce a carbon tax, then just need to soften up the plebs.

well rubbish does contribute to climate change (landfill gas)

is this the same kind of brain washing that was blamed for teenagers becoming satan worshipers if they listened to records backwards? ah i still remember sitting through a sermon in the church on st stephens green on the wicked effects listening to guns n roses has on you... amazing how even though i listen to heavy metal i don't go around bashing peoples heads in... maybe it's because people can create their own opinions and choose how to lead their own lives?

would love to chat more but this is a common argument and honestly is getting a little old ;) if you have any reports, journals or anything that verifies climate change is all a bit pile of poo please do let me know :D

well it is run by engineers... totally agree that there is no such thing as the final word. it's just one more website that claims to be the be all and end all on the subject, filled with misinformation (although towing the government line that our Kyoto bill will only be €260m ish). i think we should really stop wasting time with these silly websites n put more research into the whole topic, plus further research into practical things such as creating more effective products that use less resources and make our lives better. this isn't necessarily a hippy tree hugging thing, just a natural progression in human evolution of creativity

I did my carbon footprint, answered that I have no car. One of the suggestions for me was not to drive with a roof-rack

    Good advice.

Well the way I look at it is even if climate change turns out to be a load of bollocks, there's still no harm in the advice being offered by sites like these as reducing your energy consumption and generally acting in a greener manner can only be a good thing. It mystifies me how some people can be so vehemently opposed to such an initiative.

Totally agree, its always good sense to be efficient wherever possible.

My biggest gripe with the green lobby is the agressive attack on the modern western lifestyle. Low cost flights are probably the greatest business innovation of the last 50 years allowing lots of low to middle income people see the world. That might end soon if the greens get their way. Again with cars and other aspects of life.

You will see govts. rub their hands with glee as they have just been given a great excuse to tax people.

It's already ending because airlines just can't afford to offer such cheap flights anymore, what with the rising costs of fuel, increased airport charges due to congestion resulting from all the cheap flights, increased security, etc. To blame the increased cost of flying on the big, bad greenies is disingenuous to say the least. Let's also not forget that airlines don't have to pay any tax on jet fuel in the EU.

I just did it and it told me to properly insulate my walls. I told it I live in an apartment built after 2002 and I can't do anything to it as I don't even own it, I own the air inside not the building. And if the goverment hadn't been in the builders pockets for years I wouldn't need to as they would have built it to proper standards not the crap the goverment allowed.

It also tell me if I turn off all my applicance I can save 173kgCO2 per year and 2 lines below I'll save 100kgCO2 per year if I switch off my TV, Video, DVD or stereo:confused:

    Patience, my friend.

Within 5 years you will not be able to move with green/environment taxes.

And that includes a breath tax.

Now is the time to put a stop to this rubbish, any sane person needs to make their voice heard.

Seriously man, have you nothing better to be doing than continuously re-registering and spouting the same old nonsense?
