PS3 haveing problems playing games

    recently my ps3 has start messing up it won't play ps3 games or blue ray movies (won't even show the disc in the XMB ) but it will play normal dvd's cd's and ps2 games , them sometimes the ps3 games will start working again has anyone had this problem before ? is there a separate blueray laser that might need to be cleaned ?

    Take it back to the shop. If you have your receipt, you're sorted.

    don't have the reciept my house got broken into and a safe got taken unfortunatly the reciept was in that

    if you used a credit card/laser you'll be fine. otherwise contact sony, as the store probably wont want anything to do with it... worth trying though.

    This happened to me. After a week or so it won't play any discs at all. Seeing as you don't have a receipt it will cost you €250 for a replacement from sony. Call the support number in the manual. They will send out a letter outlining what you have to do to get a replacement.
    If you don't have the original box, get a similar sized one somewhere so you can send it back. i don't know how long this takes as I haven't sent mine back yet.

    If you bought it from game and used a loyalty card, you won't need a receipt.
    Not sure what the story is with other shops, but it might be worth checking...

    I emailed this company http://consolerepairsireland.ie/ and they can fix it for 85 euro says it needs the laser block replaced and that it is becoming a common problem with ps3's so think it will be worth the money and i'll have a better chance of getting my own 60g back from them rather than pot luck from sony
