Hiya, I've a friend who lives in Ken (Tunbridge Wells) and I was talking to her last night to arrange going over and she said the nearest airport to her in Gatwick so I maybe Canterbury is the same?

she said there's a direct train from Tunbridge to Gatwick if that's any help

Was there last summer. Fly into gatwick. Go downstairs to the tube. You'll see a map listing all the routes. You will have to switch trains. All in all should take you an hour to get there.

Ps: Avoid the kebab shop in Kent city near the town square at all costs.

Sweet the tube goes to Gatwick now? Nice one. /sarcasm

    Anyway this site should help:
    http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

A quick look suggests fly to Gatwick get train to Victoria and get train from Victoria to Canterbury East/west you could swap elsewhere obviously but I think Victoria would be less hassle. Just plug in Gatwick and Canterbury and it will spit out details.

I'm glad you mentioned that, I gravitate towards Kebab shops and Indians.

Cheers everyone. Will book flights to Gatwick so.

Try national express as well, there may be a direct coach.

..and one more thing, if you're travelling at the weekend (especially a Bank Holiday) check and double check your trains for engineering works / cancellations.

Bank holidays over here should be renamed Railway Maintainance Weekends:mad:
