Has Anyone had gastric bypass surgery privately?

    My partner needs it and is on the waiting list for Beaumont Hospital. Trouble is they haven't done any operations in the past year and he's No.10 on the waiting list!

    Because he's been on the list so long he thought he might be eligible under the National Treatment Purchase Fund. They initially said yes, he could have it done but then backtracked and said no because of the high dependency aftercare needed.

    So, the option is private surgery. Has anyone had it done and where? P.M. me if you don't want to post here as I know from reading other threads that there is a lot of ignorance surrounding the issue. I don't want to enter into the 'eat less you greedy bugger' scenario!
