    Hi all,

I find these very handy for getting protein on board - pack says 6.5g of protein per mini fillet and there's about 18 in the pack. Can keep them frozen and cook in 12 minutes.

But they seem too handy! Are they bad or ok?

    Cheers,

    Les

    Bad!

Not familiar with the particualt brand you mentioned but all that stuff is processed crap tbh mate, packed with salt and sugar, not to mention they usually covered in bread crumbs!

MUCH MUCH better off with regular chicken breast.

I would count that as processed food so wouldn't be great. Better off getting it fresh and cooking yourself.

Also the tagline on the packets saying produced in thailand to European standards wouldnt fill me with confidence.

On top of real chicken being so much better for you, it tastes way nicer too!

I've only had those Big Als things once and thought they tasted horrible!!

Would this go for most frozen chicken products? Aldi have these frozen whole chicken breasts that look like what you'd get in your butcher only they throw 4 of em into a bag and freeze em, ie:no sugar or salt or crap. Havnt tried them but I've noticed them a once or twice, has anybody else tried them? Could they be considered a decent source of protien?

Sorry for going OT:rolleyes:<<<SERIOUSLY, WTF happened the old rolleyes? He didnt offend anybody

A mate and I used to get a taxi home from nightclubs, go to Tesco in Artane, walk home and deep fry enough Big Als' Spicy Chicken for 6 people!! Ridiculous!

Stopped doing it now, cause I read the same - I don't trust foreign meats. The amount of processing they must go through just to make it over to Ireland :(

Oh, and all the chicken rolls from the likes of Centra and Spar are the same. Chicken fillets from Thailand!

Better off with a few real Irish fillets from a butchers to be honest!

the big als might be the best of a bad bunch frozen wise. They have no breadcrumbs, I think just coatings (salt and crap though). But I think the chicken is unminced breast meat. May have been a different big al product I am thinking of though.

I imagine many irish butchers are also selling foreign meats.

I pressure cooked a 1.8kg chicken tonight and got 750g lean meat from it.

Haven't seen the specific ones that you are talking about but I would tend to avoid cheap chicken at all costs, more so than any other meat.

Tbh,most chicken fillets are foreign imports, usually full of water too.Its far better and better value to buy an entire chicken, then you get two fillets and two legs.
