Indeed. Sure they also delve into the odd bit of happy hardcore, skanghouse and cheese-trance :pac:
Their customers are the tens of thousands of people who can be found at nightclubs in towns and suburbs every weekend, he says.

"The clubs that hit the headlines tend to be the named clubs - everyone knows of Cream and Gatecrasher, but what people don't tend to talk about is the club on every street corner.

"It might be a Ritzy or Ikon or Oceana. There are so many of these clubs and they're in every suburban centre. If you take Manchester, it might be the outlying areas - Oldham, Bolton, Stockport

That right there is my main problem. Gathering together even one person to go to a proper night in town is a pain in the bollix, everyone would rather the one down the road.

Having said all that I doubt there is anyone here who was born in the 80s who didnt like Scooter at some point :pac: :p

pretty mad that even a madonna album only sells 29.500 copies in it's first week these days!!!

    From the article:

It is the biggest coup yet for Blackburn-based independent record label All Around the World, who say they are catering for a thriving suburban club scene.

Catering for the lowest common denominator more like you *****!
Still I suppose they are only catering to market needs, its pretty sad that Scooter or Madonna (judging by the first single from the album and her "live" performance last night on the BBC) can get anywhere near the charts!

I must be the exception to the rule! I actually like scooter! But there again I like The KLF as well! I am 42 at the end of the month, same birthday as Kylie, but she's 2 years younger!

    wait.... you're 42???

the mere fact that you think that liking the klf is something to be embarrased about speaks volumes about you.

I actually like Scooter aswell! Yeah they're cheesy but they've been around since the early 90s and are still bangin em out. beats all that r&b ****e dominating the charts at the moment anyways hyyyper hyyyper. :pac::pac::pac:

I used to like Scooter, but I'm taking the "born in the 80s" excuse.

At least distributing Scooter makes a change from AATW re-releasing "Set You Free" by N-Trance every two years to make a profit...

I see nothing wrong with liking the KLF (in small doses!). The KLF 'Chill Out' album is excellent -

As for Scooter... can't stand them but would swap places with over 14 millions records sold

    Cheese sells.

If you listen to some of the words by scooter, you will find references to the KLF. 'Respect to the man in the ice cream van' (Weekend) 'The K The L The F and ideology' (Logical Song) Also The Logical song was not the first song they released, it was the first top 10 hit for them, it got to number 2, then Nessaja got to number 4, and Weekend got to number 12. After that they died down a bit until recently. Behind The Cow was done in collaboration with Fatman Scoop.

BTW check this nerdy version of The Question on YouTube! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iI5heUCblos Hillarious!

surely your not trying to tell us scooters first song released was the logical song!!!!!!!!!
i hope you know about all the other albums they had out.
oh by the way, back when scooter tracks wouldnt be touched by any label, they decided to put out a track and used the artist name guess who.
it was called posse i need you on the floor.it did quite well actually

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,184 ✭✭✭✭L1011

That wasn't a case of 'no record label touching them', that was 'all the people in Scooter who actually make the music deciding they wanted to release some tracks without the name tarring them'. They also released "Sunrise" as "Ratty" which did quite well too.

This was at the same time as they were getting extreme chart success as Scooter, so there's not a chance they were being turned down by labels. They were on Club Tools and since 2000 have been on Sheffield Tunes - with regional distributers like AATW in the UK.

Posse later got the twat (HP Baxter) singing over it and got released as a Scooter track.

well from what i remeber it was a time when scooter were doing nothing and thats the story i read.ah well.yeah ratty sunrise was excellent.it actually still sounds really good.there a great electroey bass in it.
(runs off to listen to it)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,184 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Check discogs.com - they were releasing solidly during 2000/2001 (when the Guess Who? track came out).

Anyone who's ever been a big name will never have problems getting a track signed - and Scooter were big in 1994/5. Back In The UK / Endless Summer were enough to ensure they'd be able to release crap for ever more...

Possibly the cheesiest, scangeriest and worst band I've ever heard. How are they still popular? If it were 1995, I'd understand. But now?

It's no contest. Scooter makes me want pour salt in my eyes while stabbing my testicles with a fork.

Madonna had the rather excellent Vogue.
