Lanzarote.. What to expect?

    Hello!

Me and a couple of lads decided to head away this summer ( 18 / 19 Year old.. ). We didn't want to head over to crete or hersonisis where it seems to be pretty popular recently.

We ended up picking up a week in lanzarote, puerto del carmen right on the beech/strip. We didn't want an expensive trip nor did we want anything too filled with night life for eg. everybody we come accross is 18/19.

I was wondering what is the night life like in Puerto del carmen? I know I have been a few years back when I was younger and I know there is a fair few bars / clubs but what is it like?

What will the weather be like around mid june as that is when it is booked i'm hoping for it to be scortching!

Any other tips / recomendations from people who have been before?

    Thanks.

Puerto Del Carmen is very busy and developed! In June time its a haven for people from all walks of life from buggy brigades to hens to young and lively! There are a good few bars on the main stripp and a few nite clubs too, although usually if the disco bars have a good crowd in they'll stay open till 3 or 4 anyway!!

Weather wise it should be lovely, but again nobody can predict weather! Should be a scorcher though!

If its not 100% life yer looking for yet variety, good choice of resturaunts and a nice place overall - you're gonna be grand!!!! And no matter where ye go, a group of young lads will make their own fun as long as there is something around to be doin!

    Have fun!

It will be scorching! up around the 30s at least id say. I was there a few years ago in october, february, and a few other times and it was always about 30 degrees. Always a nice sea breeze to cool ya down but certainly bring the sun lotion.

As for bars and clubs, i didnt go to any clubs, but the bars were nice. Theres a few "irish" pubs in the old part of town, near the shopping center. Craic n Ceol used to be good about 8 years ago but its lacking much craic these days, and the ceol isnt what you would call irishy. More like "Now thats what I call music" CD playing. Brenans bar beside Craic n Ceol is nice, but empty, people dont like the stairs up to it i guess. A friend of a friend told me about some place in between the 2 pubs (if you find them its down the ally-way steps apparently) another irish pub, but apparently its really good craic. Cant think of the name of it though.

Other then that, pub wise it was always hit or miss, went to a few random pubs but never really took notice of where they were or what the names were, and didnt venture much into the new part of town.

What hotel you staying in as a matter of interest?

Hotel wise, its a good ould' cheap one. Hotel los cocoteros, on the strip/beach.

What can we expect money wise, will it be expensive for a night out?

    How thirsty are ya? :)

Its been a few years, cant really remember. I dont think it was anything special price wise.
1Ltr of JD for 16Euro tho. Gotta love those off licences, get a few bottles of hard stuff into the hotel before a night out if ya wana save a few quid.

A lot of the bars do a buy 1 get 1 free promotion, you would be paying €6 for a bottle of Bud and same for a smirnoff ice / wkd ((as of feb 08)). you are nearly better off going to a small bar off the strip for an hour or two before where the drink would be €3 only!!

Food wasnt bad at all - expect about €25-€30 pp for a 3 course meal roughly.

It's been a few years my self since I was there last too

Glad its going to be hot tho .. Only going for a week so it better be a scortcher.

Another question, that is slightly OT but where is everyone going these days for a lads holiday? Also I've been to ibiza a few years back aswel is that any good these days? I liked that alot when I was there last.

The pub blacknight is talking about in the old town is Nellys, brilliant spot, definitely worth a visit...if anyone tries to tell you to go up to the nightclub beside though be warned its actually a brothel!!! the new town is fairly lively, loads of late night disco bars...and most if the restaurants have special offers on main courses..cheao and cheerful food!! the weather will be fab, we were there 3 weeks ago and was up around 40 degrees the day we were leaving...
