great review vtec and really good to see such a comparison. the eglm looks the business i would nearly buy it because it opens to the side!

very very impressed with the dboys, man thats a step up for them as well. pity about the 10mm difference in size for eglm. the star one looks incredibly cool. i would be very very interested how you find it and indeed what you think of the internals after you run thru a few thousand. i have the g&g one but no eglm but it is the long barreled version. i prefer carbine sizes personally.

bugger if i had the cash i would get one. cant remember where did you buy it dude and did you have to get it sub jouled?

as it happens i think a few more of these genuine side by side reviews is a most excellent idea and sicne you are a bit of a dude with the internals also it gives us all a real review and not just externals. bravo

    thanks for the comments falls.,:)

i got tony in eirsoft to order it in on the pecial order for me and it came in prfectly legal, aparently though the ones for the american market are well into the 400-450fps range.,

I havent had the chance to have a nosey at the gearbox yet but from what ive seen with other STAR gearboxs, theres usually a quick release spring guide on them allowing you to updowgrade/downgrade them in a matter of seconds., :)

    EDIT:

Hoplite, cheers man, im gonna be putting some milage on it later tonight so i'll post back on the review.,

Wow. I love the Hinge in the Star version when it comes to wiring or lack of it.
    Nice descriptions and detailed review.

I cant help but be reminded of this though: :D:D:D

spring changes that quick...sounds sweeter by the minute. also if its built for 400 450 range i would guess 320ish should reduce a lot of stresses and strains making it one fine piece.

LOL., you make it sound like it fell apart.,:p

my baby got a lockup earlier but infortunately i didnt bother bringing tools and i havent familiarised myself with striping it down yet so i didnt bother., it worked great for the first 2 games though, there was myself and tony against about 4-5ish other lads who were defending, tony got hit and then it was just me on me tod, but of course my new favourate baby saved the day but clocking me 3 kills and in the end we won the game.,:D

the ROF is very impressive on the 9.6 and the range was good too, im gonna get a gaurder hopup for it though and see how much of a difference that makes., :)

Lol Vtec ... interesting review. TBH, I ain't trading my VFC for a STAR (it is teh absoluteh sexeh), but if its' possible to get an EGLM seperate .... oh I'd be tempted :D

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

far a i know the STAR EGLM will fit the VFC scar, im not sure if its available to buy seperate though, it doesnt fit the Dboys scar, all it would take is a little trimming though but i think there releasing their own one soon.,

    Wellll,
after going on a little fact finding mission i discovered the cause of te lock up problem a few mins ago, lol, notice the little lodger here sitting right between the piston and the gearbox.,

the good news is it only takes about 20seconds to field strip this thing., :)

I'm not a scar fan but the fact it strips down that way makes me want one!
    Pure sexy stuff.

the eglm will fit the vfc scar, unfortunately it is not available desperately on as part of the set

Yeah it fits on but i think its a bit wobbly on it, i tried it on a few brands yesterday but im not sure if i did the VFC or the G&G., although it did actually fit on it wasnt as secure as it is on the star, the dboys one should fit all other brands since it'll be made to suit the dboys rail, their rail is about 10mm longer than the other brands so others wont fit the dboys but theirs should fit everyones.,:)

heres a little test video "cheeky monkey" did in hrta yesterday,.,

    richie is t3h s3x irl

from what i saw it looks a very nice piece, i was standing just to the side of that and have never witnessed a airsoft grenade launcher in action, looked the biz.

i just have a loathing for scars, they look weird :)

but as richie informed me at a later stage, i thought it went bogey straight away but he got the first game in, which he wiped out whole team out with..

have to say i didnt feel hte hit, but the boards around me where shattering so i gave him the benefit of the doubt and declared i was hit, wish i didnt :)

Little update on the scar after giving it some proper milage today,.,

It officially hates beast BBs, lol so thats 3 of my AEGs now, i was scratching my head for ages trying to figure out why it was miss feeding like mad, i was originally blaming the mags but when i tryed a midcap thanks to hivemind the gun fed every BB perfectly, luckily i had a bottle of excels and switched over to them, after that it was purring like a kitten and served me well for the rest of the day.,
final thoughts, I LOVE THIS BABY! :D

Oh and this was when we were messing around with anything RIS that we could bolt on. M4 carry handle and RIS rail, acog etc.,:D

I hope VFC will hurry up with their EGLM seeing as Star have theirs out now.

The Tan SCAR looks alot better in the field than in the pics in online shops.

The VFC strips closer to the real steel than the Star, you even have a dummy bolt carrier assembly to take out. The Star version is still class though and it's easier to do a barrel change on.

They do indeed do an M16 (the A3 infact). Just be careful with the hop unit on them, they are extremely fragile which I have found out much to my chagrin.

it looks so good with that helmet in the pic, i think you should give it to that guy........

The only thing i dont like is the look of the tan plastic. i think i'd either get the black one or get the tan one and give ita light dusting with tan krylon. just to take the SLIGHT plastic look off it. it was mainly the bit around the trigger that i didnt like.

Considering that its designed to shoot at 400+,
How would it fare with a higher voltage battery then the 9.6?
not too much more but maybe just the 10.8V?

I may actually have good news on that front ronan,. will give ya a shout with more info,.:)

yup thats what im hoping to try it on, I have the battery and everything but was just occupied with the miss feeding problems most of the time and didnt get around to charging the 10.8., Im gonna give the gun a good strip and rebuild first though id say, just so i can be sure its all hunky dory.,:)

Oh yeah, the guy with the helmet, theres a funny story behind that one actually, aparently hes the "head butting" champion of last years special olympics and he just goes arould belting his head off random hard surfaces, I finally got the gun back after i found a nice pain of glass for him to lick.,

    rofl.,
    :D:p

so what was the cure in the end for miss feeds? was it the mags or the bb's that where the problem?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 11,001 ✭✭✭✭Masada

I originally thought it was the mags or the hop but it was the BBs in the end, they were beast ones and ive had problems with them feeding on a few AEGs this far., its really good on excels., :)

it was excels i was using wasn't it?
