Just back from my first ever hunt outing. I'm 56 my son is 28, his first hunt as well. I went out to my sons house at about 4pm for some target shooting with Eley 22 subs target and some Federal Champion value pack high velocity's that I only got today and used for the first time. Big bang off these Federals even SAK mod fitted.

My son and I went for a walk through the fields near the sons house from about 8.30 to 10pm. Saw 6 rabbits and had shots on 3, my son shot 1 and missed 1, I shot 1, all at about 55m. Well pleased with the results. Scope performed well in the low light as the evening wore on, it's a Nikko Nighteater 8-32x60 IR.
Now I have to watch on YouTube how to dress the rabbits and cook them, another first here. It's a good learning curve.
Come to think about it I don't see many rabbits around but found a few tonight.

Good man Dwighet might take you up on that. I tried to skin the 2 rabbits the next day before breakfast but the old stomach turned so I may try skinning them out in the fields. Bought a good knife and latex gloves (I'm still a mammy's boy at heart ;))
Was out again last night but only saw 2 rabbits they are a bit scarce around here. Took the shotgun as well and let off a couple of shots at nothing but good fun.
My son should have his 223 back from getting a T8 mod fitted next week so we'll get out some more then.

No problem at all.Best to clean the bunnies in the field. They dont take long to get stinky in this weather..
if you want to give the shot gun a good run i have some nice ground for crows and pigeons close to johnstown. I have cammo hides and decoys and all the bits and bobs..All you need is your shooter and a bucket load of cartridges.(6s or 7s will do the job).

    PM me if your keen

Nice one Clive. Don't worry about the cleaning out. Once you've done it a few times you'll get fairly handy at it. Just don't rip the guts and it doesn't become messy at all. Of with you now to go and find a few lads with corn fields that'll let you shoot pigeons in few months ( crop protection of course ).

Fair play to you and your son clive j. I hope you kept the shell from your first kill, its something ive always done a little keep sake. I use the below technique for dressing rabbits I find it quite quick and simple. After a few attempts you will be doing it in your sleep. Hope it is of some use to you..
