cheers mate , you should try your hand at snorkeling , you'd get a mask and snorkel for 30 quid . my best advice is to keep it shallow ,yuo will see alot more and feel abit more safe till you get into it . could do a try a dive on hoildays or local PADI centre

great shots. I can never get ones like those underwater. Did you use a macro lens for some of them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 345 ✭✭hellfireie

no i didnt use a macro len i normally leave the camera on its macro setting . i just get up close and personal !

i like the small stuff its great to see a nudibranch try and get its picture , they might be small but there beautful creature , have good few blue water pics but there no place like home for me . too of the diver mags with the same old same warm water stuff , i thinks its about time we seen some good pictures from our own waters and get more people back into irish waters , im a memebr of a CFT club and the drop outs are amazing , its a pitty becasue most dont get to see whats really down there and i think our coast is amazing

lets see some your picture guys !

any chance we could get a competition going on here ( friendly) spark some interested and maybe a few new dive buddys , what do think ?

    cheers

Those are fantastic pics and brilliant quality with very little sediment, I keep telling people that Irish waters are every bit as colourful and busy as those that you see on David Attenborough program but they dont believe me. These pics prove my point.
These are the sort of pics I'd love to print our and hang in a picture frame in my hall (especially the hermit crabs!!)

    Lovely pics. Especially the blenny!

What was the 5th photo in the OP?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 232 ✭✭ColinJennings

It is a bert toy. As in bert and ernie.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 345 ✭✭hellfireie

yeah its from bert and ernie, i named the photo ' dont eat ernie'. im not which is bert and which is ernie but dont eat ernie sounds better dont you think !

i took that photo where alot of people go swiming so there all kinds of crap on the sea bed, the poor anemone must have thought it had found its lunch !

have a few more pics i'd like to share , so i'll stick them up let me know what you think .

hey slig , you spot on i think the irish waters are every bit as good if not better then all these far flung places and i think my pictures are proof of that (not to blow my own trumpet or anything!). i know we will never get 50 meters vis but hey you never know !

cheers guys for all the feedback

    jamie

    Fastnet

Always wanted to land on it i've seen it in so many pics before. Only time I was ever down there in real life was when I was test driving a RIB off the Baltimore shores. Nice place

Fantastic photos! The best I can offer are a couple taken on the GBR. Underwater photography is a lot harder than it looks! No Irish pics unfortunately as I don't have a waterproof housing for my camera.

Great shots hellfireie, what type camera did you use?
    Was there an external flash?
What format did you use (jpeg/RAW)?
Did you make any tweks afterwards, or did you upload as is?
