The Mighty Boosh have begun to announce acts that are playing at their Festival in Kent. Of Course the Boosh will be the headliners do a mix of comedy and music. As Noel Fielding quoted ' We’ve never played a music festival before and a comic has never headlined at a festival before so we are seizing the opportunity and doing both!”
So far these are the acts announced:
    The Charaltans
    Gary Numan (surprise, surprise)
    White Denim
    Polar Bear

    POLAR BEAR \o/

This is going to be fab! The comedy tent line up is fantastic (everyone from Ross Noble to Matt Holness!) even if the music is only so-so. Judging by their performance at the secret gig in the Big Chill House in london the other day, the Boosh band is gonna be on top form!! :D

Anyone wanna give me a ticket and flights to/from the UK for free?
And if ya don't like that transaction, how about I stab ya in the gums with my screwdriver?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Okay. I've decided. I'm definitely going. I've got my ticket, flight and accommodation all booked.

So come on then monkeyfudge and other attendees, tell us less fortunate how it went ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,239 ✭✭✭✭WindSock

Yeah. Did you see David O Doherty too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Yep. David O Doherty was pretty awesome!

It was good fun and we were very lucky with the weather.

The Boosh didn't come on until the very end and only did about an hour and a half with no encore.. so that was a little disappointing... I'm not too sure how well the longer versions of all the songs work.. I'd really need to hear them again... hopefully they'll get an album out soon.

They open with Future Sailors and Vince entered the stage on a big pirate ship... and they finished up with the Charlie song along with a massive fireworks display.

Most of the other bands were pretty sh*te... and you can only apreciate Gary Numan on an ironic level for so long... so I spent most of the day in the comedy tent. It was pretty good and was definitely hit more than miss in the selection of comedians.

I had to correct Ross Noble on the difference between monkeys and chimps though.

Matt Berry wasn't given anywhere near enough time, while some other completely useless acts were given ages... or maybe it just felt that way.

Got some photos on my phone... I'll stick them up later...

Please note the sticky on this forum.

    But welcome aboard.

    what the hell?!
    Why the hell not???!!!!!
    Is Boosh forbidden here?
Is that why there is next to nothing about them here?
Must i simply get my boosh happy from the tiny advertisements in herald am?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

We can talk about The Mighty Boosh as much as we want.

But not about certain gigs. If we did allow that discussion we'd be left with no forum to discuss anything Boosh related or not.

It's a long and complicated story. But really it's only a small limitation on the forum.

I see they are looking for photos and stories from the festival for the latest issue of Cheekbone. Wish I'd taken more photos... actually I must get around to posting up the few small ones I do have.

    ha!
cheeckbone is a load of crap!
i read bits of the first one and could read no more, the know me place sucks, not that i can complain, 7 euro or whatever it was :P
Modwolves on the other hand and the forum have actually changed my life, i didn't know anyone in London and girls i met off the forum let me stay with them for Boosh fest. I actually had the greatest weekend of my life! Met amazing people and the boys were amazing! It was totaly worth going over. Did u see the girls runnin round in sheets? I was with them :)
Did u go to Boosh fest on your own?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Yeah.... didn't know anyone else with the money to make it over... so I figured feck it.. and went by myself.

There were a good few other Irish in the comedy tent for most of the day actually. I know because one of the comedians did a "Where is everyone from" bit.

I was staying in a hotel in London... so getting back there after the festival was a bit of an ordeal as I hadn't got a place booked on one of the coaches and they just had a shuttle bus service dumping people at Padock Wood Station.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 bbudab

Yeah we had to camp out at the train station and we were not the clever people who had brought sleeping bags etc, i was cold to my bones. It was really weird seeing all these bodies on the ground at 4 in the morning, there was a big cheer when the train came at 7, it was worth it though, one of the greatest weekends of my life! Really hope it's on again next year despite what some tabloids are saying.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

Ah... They actually brought an extra coach to London back around after all the others had left. So I managed to get on that one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 46 bbudab

Was that the one that was charging 20 pounds to bring you back?
We bought return train tickets so it was fine, if we had gotten the coach we would have had to roam around London for the night. We found the station our best bet.
    How did you find it?
    Worth the trip?
