    Hi Everyone

I really need to order some stuff off the web for my wedding from America but am concerned that i will have to pay heavy duties on them and defeating the purpose of getting them over there ?
Nothing major - only invitations and a guest book , cake topper etc .. not heavy goods ...
Anyone no what the charge is please ?

The import duty amount depends entirely on the value of the goods, Paper products for example do not have import duty rates applied, What is a cake top made of ?

You may have to pay VAT 21% of the CIF (Cost of the goods + Insurance + Freight) Value on the goods.

Alot of posters on here have noticed that if you get the goods sent by a courier Co (DHL, UPS, Fed-Ex etc) There is a higher chance you will have to pay Import taxes & duties, however if the goods are sent by US Postal Service (USPS) you may not get charged any taxes & the postman may just deliver to your door as normal...
