We've rakes of it in Cork, three patches on Patrick St, another lot on the South Mall and even more in Emmet Place.

Having only recently started driving outside the county fo cork (having moved up to a gorgeous cbf250), i was really surprised to find it lacking in waterford and (as i hear) in dublin.

Is there any of the towns and cities that have bike parking? or do you jsut dump it on the nearest wide footpath and hope for the best?

There aren't many designed spots in Dublin, but there's a few places where most bikes are parked around town. Centre of O'Connell st is one and beside the GPO is another. I always just make sure I lock the bike to something fairly sturdy and in full view.

None in Ennis, an accepted place is up on the Height, also on the wide path opposite Lucas Bar off Parnell St. The wardens there seem sound (One is/was a member of the local Banner MCC) and take allowances that there is no designated bike parks. If I cannot find designated bike parking I will park on the edge of the path locked to a post and will fight it and have done. I have parked in metred car parking spaces and have had my bike knocked over.
