Just tried ordering the limited edition on Play.com, and it says that it can only ship to a UK address, yet they'll let you order the regular edition no problem at all.

I haven't been able to find the limited edition anywhere else as of yet. Really hope we're not getting screwed with this one!!!

Did you have the price in euros or sterling?

Not just us, it looks like they are not shipping to any other European country either. Says clearly 3 or 4 times that they will ship to UK only.

That kinda sucks. Do you have any friends or family in England that you can ship it to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,721 ✭✭✭Otacon

Not sure on the details, but is this not just Play.com that have this rule?

I'm sure you can get the Limited Edition in stores like GAME, Gamestop etc. as well as online with Irish retailers...

It's €112, I don't care what the extras are, I'm not paying that when I can get the normal game for €45 elsewhere.

Im a huge fan of the series but for €50 or so in the difference I think I could live without those

Decent action figures cost 30-50 last I checked... have I been buying from the wrong stores?

TBH I'm getting it because of the Blu-Ray disc with the Making-Of documentrys. I loved the DVD that came with MGS2, with the one documentry and the extras.

I'd also have gotten the soundtrack so this works out OK. The action figure will be a nice little gift for the nephew.

hey otacon. where are you getting your LE? I wonder if gametop are doing it over here like they are in the states?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,160 ✭✭✭tok9

Well, just going by what I've read on a few other forums, it apparently is an exclusive deal with Play.com, hence why no one can seem to find it for sale anywhere else

    As said above, PLAY.com.

I'm in the UK at the moment so it works out.

oh ok. i dunno gamestop in america is doing it so let's hope we get it too. I'd say we would get it somehow becuase play.com will only ship to uk addresses and i remember they got limited editions of assassins creed and rainbow six vegas 2 and i saw those limited editions in gamestop.

I'd be amazed if one of the Irish retailers didn't get the LE, even in limited quantities. Don't give up hope!

    NEWS FLASH!!!!!
I went into Smyths today, and asked about any possible Limited Edition. They are VERY VERY confident that they are getting it:D, and for around 70-80 Euros. And they are taking pre-bookings.
Again it's not definate, but they are very confident of it, and i've dealt with Smyths a lot, and they're usually right.
    Enjoy!:D

I'm pretty sure they fed you some bs there man. The UK price for the limited edition is £80 sterling, which is over €100.

I'd be surprised if the euro price for the regular edition was under €69.99 to be honest.

True, i'm guessing the price is wrong, as on Play.com in Euros it's listed as 110 Euros (even though it should really be 102). But the money doesn't matter to me, i was prepared to pay 110 Euros for it, and i will if i have to.
Just happy that (i think) we're finally getting it.:p

    Can anyone confirm this?

Is this the same Gunmetal grey ps3 bundle as the US?

EDIT: Just found this so now our bundle will have a PS3, the game and a Six-Axis

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I was in GameStop in Dun Laoire a week ago and the guy there said he seriously doubted anywhere in Ireland is getting the LE. I was seriously disappointed with this so I decided to check out GameStop.com to see if they would ship to Dublin because, as many people here have said many times, play.com won't do it. GameStop.com are willing to ship here for 109 USD including shipping, which is far cheaper than anywhere on ebay. So, for those of you who are like myself and won't settle for the standard edition, check out GameStop.com.

It's a shame that it seems that we're not getting it, but don't give up hope. Remember Konami said 'Big Retailers' around Europe will be getting it, these stores just don't know for sure whether they will or won't.
As for the gamestop.com deal, it was already known that they ship outside the U.S. i don't know why people thought otherwise, but anyway the LE isn't worth getting from there, as the DVD's won't work.
Blu-ray GAMES are region free, but Blu-ray DVDs are not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,721 ✭✭✭Otacon

Blu-ray GAMES are region free, but some Blu-ray movies are not.

Fixed that for ya. Its up to the publisher whether they want to region-lock the discs.

Sorry i rushed that, and that is true.
But in speaking about the Limited Edition of MGS4, the blu-ray DVDs will not be region free, as if they were then the Limited Editions would be the same.

Just to say, if you order from Gamestop.com, you're most likely going to be hit with import duty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34 nathan_snake

Just to let you know there's some news about MGS4 extras/ limited edition now.
In Game, if you pre-book the standard edition, you will get the 'Making of' DVD. Also a few other stores seem to be sure Game will be getting the LE (but the 'making of' DVD is the only confirmed thing).

So if you're really keen on the Limited Edition (like myself), here's something you could try.
(This will only work IF Game give you the DVD straight away, which they do in Game in the UK, i don't know for sure right now).
You could pre-book the standard edition in Game, and then get your money back on the booking.
You could then pre-book the version from HMV.com (as far as i know they deliver to Ireland), and you get an exclusive HMV MGS4 sleeve, and a sample of the Soundtrack.

As for the figure, i'm sure you will be able to buy it for about 10-15 Euros soon.
    Hope that helps.

Ya HMV.com do deliver to Ireland. I ordered MGS4 from there last week

will the game and the blu-ray movies be region locked do you know?

    To finally clarify;
PS3 games are NOT region-locked, they are all region-free.
(Most) Blu-ray DVD's ARE region-locked (and since there are different LE Editions they will be region-locked).
The best you could do is import from Gamestop (if any left), (also they ship International Orders on June 6th as far as i know so you shouldn't be left waiting for too long), and then mod your PS3 eventually, or hope for a firmware update on your PS3 (but you would have to wait a while, and no-one knows if that is even going to happen.)

You would probably be best trying to improvise, or buying the DVD's off of eBay.

What Smyths was that, because I work in one and as far as I know [which until we actually get the games is admittedly very little] that ain't going to be happening, we also seem to be pushing the GAME are getting the LE version rumour, screw it, I'll buy MGS4 in Smyths, keep it sealed and check out Game/Xtra Game aswell after work!

The Smyths on Jervis Street. I went in today and asked again, and the same person said there's still a chance of it, and as you said, a few stores seem to think Game are getting it. So that's just a silly rumour?

A couple of pics of what's included with the LE MGS4 that none of us will be getting :(here.

The action figure actually looks kinda cool, wouldn't mind it sitting on my desk.

Nope, talking about the Limited Edition of the MGS4 game itself. I'm pretty sure the PS3 bundle comes with the Standard Edition of the game.

Any talk of Sony bundling MGS4 with a PS3 in Ireland?

Have all the MGSs so so far and this is the perfect excuse opportunity!

(This will only work IF Game give you the DVD straight away, which they do in Game in the UK, i don't know for sure right now).
I was in GAME on Friday with my boyfriend and he was asking if you could get the making of DVD without reserving it, she said you had to reserve the game with a Game card. As she was putting the ps3 games he bought in the bag she also slipped in the free DVD! So I think that confirms that the DVD will be given out straight away when collecting the game.

I know the same thing happened to me, but i didn't even have to pre-book it!
I asked about the LE and if there was any chance we were getting it (he remembered me from before as i've asked many times :) ) and the fella there seemed to feel a bit sorry for me since it seems we're not getting it. Then i asked about the DVD with a pre-booking and he said 'look here's a DVD you get free if you pre-book the standard version, you can just have it!'

I myself am getting the HMV version as the stores here are now doing the same deal as the UK online deal; the exclusive sleeve and the soundtrack sample. I'm pretty happy with that now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭Demios

Are you lads not confusing the metal gear saga vol.2 dvd instead?

Does it have a black cover as oppose to white (white being the proper blu-ray making-of)

Im really pissed off at the irish shops dropping the ball on this. Its crazy really when you think that people would have paid top money for this...Perhaps the exclusivity thing Play.com had scared alot of them away...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

Don't see how it would if Play.com wont sell it to customers in Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 168 ✭✭Demios

Well what i mean is that we get most if not all our games through England, so i was thinking if their only going through Play.com then perhaps Irish retailers (most of which are British chain stores anyway) probably didnt bother. I asked the girl in Smyths on Thursday did they have any and she said. "We asked for a couple of LE, but the supplier said they werent going to be allocated"

Well hopefully we will get whatever the next special edition is.
    Probably : MGS4: Substantial subsistence.
All jokes aside if there is another edition of this (which there will be since so many people NOW think Raiden is cool because he's a ninja) we BETTER get it. And not just like 1000 of them.
