Your Best Company Day Out Ever!

I'm organising an off-site day for about 100 employees and was wondering if anyone could let me know what the best company day-out they ever had was.

Our budget is pretty good and we really want to go for the wow factor - something that will really impress both the employees and the corporate bosses. We're looking to do something different too.

Would really appreciate any feedback - best day your company ever had, or that you'd heard of from friends or family.

Paintballing is usually pretty good, might not have the wow factor you want though, and you probably have way too many for it as well. Nothing says I love working with you like blasting your co-workers with paintballs.

I was only on one of those work day outs - it was an adventure place up in Clare/Limerick (cant remember which off hand). They did loads of team building stuff like high platforms, jacobs ladder, high bridges etc. Everyone thought it was excellent and they really do promote teamwork, you cant win anything unless everyone is really working together.

Alternatively a place my friend works for took them on a mystery tour, they rented out tour bus style busses complete with bars etc. If its an all day thing you may not want that though, much drunken antics.

I think the multi-activity days out are great too! People seem to really enjoy them. Am hoping for something with a big "wow" factor, possibly one of those "make your own movie" days or "learn how to drive a tank" days!

In the past I have enjoyed our days out to the races.

The dogs shelbourne or harolds cross, a meal and bets, informal.

Miller race evenings in Leopardstown, You can rent your own private rooms and organise food.

And recently we were brought to punchestown for the day races, That was an enjoyable day, free bar, meal, all the girls dressed up. Great craic!

Punchestown does look like a great all day event, but the next one doesn't seem to be until October, according to the website. Will check out the other racecourses though and see what's coming up this summer.

Cheers for the link, but discussions with powers that be have led to that idea being set aside. They want to do something "cool", although they don't know what exactly that "cool" thing is (and, in fairness, that's why they pay me!).

So what's cool in corporate events then? Learn to drive a four x four blindfolded? Archery?

Get a big comedian, such as Tommy Tiernan or Des bishop to do a private gig. A company I used to work for brought us to the Laughter Lounge and they started the evening off with a meal. Then there was a big salsa carnival type show with dancers and fire breathers. Then after that Des Bishop played, pretty good night in all fairness.
