Wild Thing in Europe?

Just reading where John Daly said he might consider taking up a card on the European Tour for a full season.

What do you guys think of him?

For me, he's one of my favourite all-time players. What a golf swing! But I wouldn't be interested in seeing him play mediocre golf from one week to the next. If he comes over and re-dedicates himself to the game then it could be a heck of a move for him.

He would be great for the tour as he is a huge attraction but I would imagine he would struggle at times with allot of the european courses as they tend to be tighter and less forgiving at times.

He is a very good player with a great short game. However at times I think he doesn't put in the work that he could do and sometimes his concentration wanders (that's not a criticism as he like most of us have other important things in our life.....he has earned enough money).

I'd like to see him work with some of the youngsters especially on the short game.

The funny thing is, I saw a quote from him which said somethign to the effect of: "In Europe there's a lot more courses where you can use driver alot on, which isn't the case in the US so much anymore"

I would've thought the opposite was true, surely??

The beer companies will be rubbing their hands!!:D

That would be great if he did decide to join the European Tour. Would be mutually beneficial too i'd say...

It would be a good coup for the European Tour if he does take up his card. He has a huge fan base and is much loved among us over here in Europe. Before Woods came along, no one had ever seen such huge drives. His performance to win the Open back in the day was just a fairytale story for him. He has had hard times but good luck to him if he does take up his card. Hope he does and does himself justice. John "Wild Thing" Daly Legend!!!

Reports today that even perenial 'homebird' Phil Mickelson is comtemplating a European sojourn in the near future... Hmmm, the cynic in me is assuming that the oil-rich Sheikhs may be turning a few heads outside the US.

Would be a good move to get Mickelson playing on the European tour, normally he is a homebird so i am suprised by those reports. The US Tour was always the be all for Golfers seems the pendelum could swinging to Europe which would be good.

Would love to see Mickelson over...

Watched him in the practise round for the World matchplay in Mount Juliet and he knocked in 8 birdies on the front nine was unreal to watch him manouvering a ball...
