friend of mine wants a laptop. he's starting college soon. he wont play games ever. maybe watch a dvd. he would like windows xp 17" screen. decent sized harddrive (was thinking anywhere from 200 - 400gb is enough) decent sound wifi doesnt need to be lightweight. he's not fussy. looking to spend no more than 800. any…

Vostro 1700 should do the job. They can be configured with xp but it costs extra. This one (http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=ie&cs=iebsdt1&kc=N4X17003&l=en&m_30=143330&oc=N0517008&rbc=N0517008&s=bsd) suits all the criteria above and then some.
