When was this launched/introduced? Isn't on the website (which features both the classic logo and the wierd abstract thing launched in the 1990s) but was on advertising hoardings at Pearse Park today. Its just a logotype "GAA" in stylesed Gaelic script.

I'm not sure when it was released, but the GAA have decided to rebrand their logo to try and unify their brand from what i remember reading. They were concerned that they had too many different styles of logos (the crosses, the newer style symbols and a host of different fonts used here and there)

Think one of the problems with the last logo (this one) was that people didnt seem brave enough to use it and accompanied it with the traditional cross (here) on tickets, programs etc.
Maybe that shows the stuck in the ways part of the gaa, but i actually like the traditions of the cross myself, and would have more regard on it seen as that whats actually ON an all ireland medal, i would hate to win one and it have the more modern one!

The new logo has sort of re-branded the traditional cross. There is a picture of it at the bottom of this article

Personally i think the new GAA text looks strangley like the text on a limerick bands posters giveamanakick. I ant find an exampe because myspace is blocked at work (where im typing from) but i seen a poster for them in Whelans on sunday night and the two fonts look really similar (especially after 4 or 5 pints!)

So they have gone from two logos (classic logo and wierd abstract thingy) to...two logos (simplified version of classic logo with the logotype in the centre and logotype on its own in blue). How anyone thinks that's brand simplification I don't know.

GAA.ie has all three logos - the classic logo and abstract corporate design on the main site and the new "GAA" logo on the Football and Hurling Championship subsites.

I would presume that this will mean the end of the abstract thing (the corporate logo apparently created because they couldn't copyright the original design) but it was still on strips worn by both teams at the weekend.
