If you signed a 12 month contract ca you could you cancel it a few months in by cutting them off at the bank? If you're leaving the country after a few months, would it matter?

Have a read of this from last week.

I don't realy know if the bank will cancel without agreement from the gym. In theory anyway, you are the banks client so they should do what you instruct.

Maybe try to pass it on to another boards poster.
Then won't be tied to 12 months and the joining fee is already paid.
Some gyms allow this, others don't

the bank will cancel a direct debit if u ask it to, the gym will hound u a bit and maybe threaten action but they wont follow through i did this with jackie skelly and after 2 letters and 3 calls they forgot about it

in theory they can get debt collectors after you and it would affect your credit rating i think but in reality its not worth their while

You'll have to go on the lam.

Try transferring, or even talking to them they might have a provision for cases like yours.
