    Hey,
Firstly I will apologize in advance because I'm not too sure if this thread is in the right place.

Anyways straight to the point. I'm 15 and want to go visit a friend in Scotland this June. I have my parents consent but we aren't experienced travellers. Because of my age will I have to make special arrangements with the airline to travel alone? Or is this only for young children?. How would I go about doing this if I do need to make arrangements with the airline?

Also neither of my parents own a credit card so we can't book flights online. I'm just wondering can we do this through a travel agents? I'm not looking for a package holiday or anything though. No accomadation will be needed just the flights. And if it is possible to buy just plane tickets through a travel agents would it be much more expensive than if we were to book them online?

    Thanks in advance.
    -Naomi.

    Naomi,

Some airlines request that young people travelling alone make special arrangements but at 15, they probably don't insist. I travelled alone at 16 (a while back now) and my mother arranged it for me, but I found it quite embarrassing as they announced my name before the flight to come up and be walked to my seat, made sure I was strapped in, etc.

You can book just flights with a travel agent but it may cost a little more to do so. Your best bet is to go into one with your mam/dad and discuss it all. They will know the ins and outs of unaccompanied teenagers travelling alone. Certainly Ryanair and Aer Lingus won't have a problem. Aer Arann also flies to a couple of places in Scotland.

    Have a great trip.
