best route to Vegas

Just wondering if anyone knows the best route to fly to Vegas?
Ideally we'd like to leave from Shannon, but we were looking into going from Gatwick as I've heard Virgin are the best to fly with.
We're going mid-June and I'd really like to get it booked soon. Price is a factor but comfort is as well so we'd be looking at an airline that has a good long-haul flight service.

    Thanks.

probably the easiest route from Ireland is Dublin to Los Angeles or San Francisco with Aer Lingus and then to take an internal 1 hour flight from either city to vegas, you also get to see a world class city if you decide on going via SF.

I haven't flown with them but i have heard Virgin Atlantic offer a much better service than Aer Lingus

    Yep, very true.

I have flown with EI a couple of times to the US and both were a terrible experience, the only good thing about the flights was that they were freebies I got through work.

When I do have to pay for my own flights to America I always fly with Virgin.

I have also used BA in the past (another freebie ;)) and VS still come out on top.

If you do decide to go with EI, do as Rossie suggests and go via SFO, LA is best avoided.

The problem with LA and SF is that they are past Vegas, if you can fly to Chicago and then on to Vegas you'll cut down on the flying time. Worth looking into.

it would seem that way but in truth thats not really the case

Dublin to LA and SF is 11 hours, LA to vegas is 45 minutes SF is 1 hour

Dublin to Chicago is 8 hours and then Chicago to vegas is 3hr 45 minutes. Add to that your choice of carriers and times is severely weakened by flying to vegas from chicago plus airfares increase dramatically too. In LA burbank and LAX have flights to vegas at least every hour (Southwest fly to vegas ever hour from Burbank north of Hollywood for approx $40)
