    Seriously... kill me now!

    From JoBlo.com
I'm refusing to believe this is actually happening, but all evidence would seem to point to this story being true: S. DARKO, a sequel to DONNIE DARKO is about to start shooting, focusing on Donnie's little sister. The story picks up seven years after the first film when little sister Samantha Darko and her best friend Corey are now 18 and on a roadtrip to Los Angeles when they are plagued by bizarre visions. Daviegh Chase reprises her role as Samantha Darko, with Justin Chatwin (WAR OF THE WORLDS) and Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl) joining the cast. And the of course, the icing on the cake: Producers have spoken to Richard Kelly about the project but he is not involved in any official capacity at this stage.

Wow, these guys sure know how to please movie fans. Maybe the prologue will feature a fifteen minute segment assaulting religion? Or Michael Bay banging my ex-girlfriend? I don't even know what else to say about this. I'm sure you guys will take care of that, though: Bring on the hate!
Hollywood just lost the glimmer of respect I had left for it! :(

But will Patrick Swaze be back...?!

(Porbably.... as a drag artist/stripper.... oh no, hang on, that was something else....)

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I'd comment more substantially on this news, but my eyes are too fuzzy from all the weeping.

This can only end in complete and utter disaster.

This is brilliant news. I remember watching Donnie Darko and thinking, time travel is all very well but what I really want to know is what happens to the kid sister. Maybe they could work her prom into the story somehow. What a shambles. Donnie Darko is my favourite film. I still hope this might be a joke.

I'll have a go at finding something positive: if Maggie Gyllenhall plays the sister again, it could go somewhere. Films like Secretary and Sherry Baby prove she's willing to take some risks with characters.

its going straight to dvd, should be easy to ignore. e.g- amercian psycho 2, cruel intentions 2+3, hollowman 2, etc etc. ive never seen these movies but i already know they are rubbish so why bother?

I was going to play devils advocate and highlight some ways in which this probably might be good... but I can't think of any. There is no possible way for it to be anything more than inferior to Donnie Darko in every concievable way :(

Yet ironically it will do better than Donnie Darko did at the box office.

It's amazing the impact DVD sales can have on a film in that way

Donnie Darko wasnt that good so I dont really care if they make a sequel, but I felt it wrapped itself up fairly nicely so it seems sort of pointless.

Terrible news :( Plot sounds crap too.

    Agreed.
A sequel shouldn't exist if the main character is dead by the end of part 1

    Why like?

Whats the ****ing point. SURELY they know this won't make the cinemas and will never get the cult status the First one did.

But they're just gonna apply to the LCD and give the rest of us aneurysms

I hope it's the exact same as the first one only without that bastard Gyllenhaal. Would definitely pay good money for that.

This has as has much to do with Donnie Darko as a tribute band to the real thing.
